Guest ranzz Posted January 29, 2004 Report Posted January 29, 2004 First, I must warn all of you that I'm going insane from playing around with the XML files  What I'm trying to do should be so simple, but I have no idea what keeps me from succeeding (I must be dumber than I thought). Anyway, all I want is a homescreen with a certain picture, and the following in the upper left corner: Time: 21:44 Alarm: SMS: (0) Now that shouldn't be that hard to do is it?! I tried building it on several pre-made homescreens like orange's "simple" homescreen, copying and pasting the plugins from other homescreens, but I keep running into some other stupid problem, like the plugin not appearing, or killing the phone, or alarm plugin going to the damn homescreen menu instead of time and date! The question is, is there a homescreen howto for dummys? or at least can someone help me out a bit - it really is the simplest homescreen ever... (considering all the plugins are ready..). it's so simple cause the backdrop is what matters the most, and not stuff like iconbar and shortcuts..
Guest ranzz Posted January 31, 2004 Report Posted January 31, 2004 Come on guys... isn't there a good soul left in Modaco? :? It's just 3 easy plugins the probably all of the homescreen makers know by heart... you can probably write the whole thing in a minute or so. Save me from my misery
Guest drblow Posted January 31, 2004 Report Posted January 31, 2004 But then we would deprive you of the learning curve that is xml!! I don't know much about configuring the alarm plugin, but there is a simple beginners xml posted here You can use it to make your theme. Just remove all the other plugins that you dont want & then set the plugin heights to suit your screen. Let us know if youre still stuck.
Guest scott2eyes Posted February 1, 2004 Report Posted February 1, 2004 If your plugin disappears (ie. it stops appearing in the list in the Settings menu) it means there's something wrong with the xml code. If you try to open it in Explorer, it will fail because of the xml code, but it will also tell you where the error is and what's wrong with it- usually a piece of problematic punctuation. Posted from my SmartPhone! You mean homescreen rather than the plug-in. The homescreens are listed in the settings not plug-ins
Guest scott2eyes Posted February 2, 2004 Report Posted February 2, 2004 Yep- that's exactly what I meant!
