Guest trioptimum Posted February 2, 2004 Report Posted February 2, 2004 They all seem to be pretty bad. From what I hear there are a few hacks to help, for example, to turn bluetooth on only hwen a call is coming in, and to turn off caller id pictures. I don't know how to do either. Anyone have any advice for us? Also, I would like to know where in the US (or even overseas at this point if it's from a reliable source) I can get batteries and stuff for the phone !
Guest Sonicr360 Posted February 2, 2004 Report Posted February 2, 2004 Yes a few things you can do.... Discharge the battery completely, then when the phone turns off, place back in the cradle and leave it in there for at least 5 hours+ Doing this a few times has made my battery last for about 3-4 days at a complete max! 4 days is pushing it, as long as you use the phone for calls only! Goto Settings / Power Management and reduce the backlight time out, say 10 seconds for example. Screen saver mode is turned off for me! Also take a look at http://smartphone.modaco.com/viewtopic.php?t=7695 for a few tips! Also, ensure you are running the latest build for the SPV / E100 - I think the E200 is not so good, due to Mr Bluetooth but turning him off when not needed helps  Simon
Guest awarner [MVP] Posted February 2, 2004 Report Posted February 2, 2004 Discharge the battery completely, then when the phone turns off, place back in the cradle and leave it in there for at least 5 hours+NEVER DO THIS!!!! fully discharging a Li-ion battery will damage it. The best thing you can do is leave the phone on charge overnight. ensure you are running the latest build for the SPV / E100 - I think the E200 is not so good, due to Mr Bluetooth but turning him off when not needed helps  Battery life in the latest update 1.6 is irratic some times you can get an improvement other times you can just get a days charge :? Anther thing that drains the battery on the E200/xphone/8080 etc is having an SD card in the phone, another interesting glitch :D
Guest beersoft Posted February 2, 2004 Report Posted February 2, 2004 you could also try this http://www.modaco.com/viewtopic.php?t=9763...battery+monitor i found that it improved my batterylife a little, i was getting 18 hours with very little use, and the program upped it to past 24 even if it doesn't improve your battery, at least you will know how long its lasting later Owen
Guest Sonicr360 Posted February 2, 2004 Report Posted February 2, 2004 I have been discharging the battery once a month on my phone and never had a problem. And in fact, it was a recommendation from Orange to do this! Could you explain the damage? Does it shorten the life or something? Also, did you notice that if the phone is turned off, charging appears to stop? Simon
Guest awarner [MVP] Posted February 2, 2004 Report Posted February 2, 2004 Li-ion batteries have internal circuitry that if fully discharges gets damaged. Unfortunately Orange CS have got confused again :? only Ni-cd and Ni-mh batteries should be discharged as this helps prevent battery memory loss, Li-ion memory loss is much less pronounced and they prefer to have top-up charges (but not for 30 mins etc) A long condition charge, as I said overnight can help to keep the battery topped up and lasting longer.
