Hi!

I am looking for a smartphone and trying to get a comprehensive list of what's available. Let's assume that money is no object and please list only those I can buy unlocked. Also, by smartphone, I mean Windows Mobile.

I feel like every day there is another annouced, but I get the code-names confused with the OEM name confused with the carrier branding confused with speculation/rumor, etc.

Also, please only list GSM phones. And, finally, if you have any reccomendations for where to buy, please list that too!

Nothing big -- just a quick list and approx price for unlocked phone in $US.

Thanks!

Thanks for the links, but there are a ton more than just those....

For instance, what about the SPVs or the MIOs? Also, I think there is one called VOQ or something like that!

Tere are not really tons more

The reason I did not mention the others was

SPV is technically old and out of date and not way worth £499  in the link.

E100/Qtek 7070/I-Mate etc Same specs as the SPV (apart from the screen is better on the E100) getting old now and the prices are still a joke in the link :D

Mitac Mio Is an option but as it's in the Asian market you will not have any support in the US for it.

Voq Has not been released yet.

Sendo Z100 Never released the SPV was released instead due to a fall out between Sendo and MS

Samsung i600 Is not a gsm phone

And the Compal AR-11 (Red E SC1100) is designed as a developers phone.

Hope this helps

Yeah, I have some digging and what you are saying is correct, a lot of names, but not a lot of different hardware.

What about the e200? That phones looks pretty slick -- Anyone have any experience with that one?

What kills me is that places are selling it unlock for $900US, but if I had the option to go with Orange, I could get it for $99US. I am tempted to get a relative in the UK to sign-up get the phone and then pay the early termination fee as that would be much cheaper than actually buying an unlocked version.

However, I heard the e200 are difficult to unlock not like the Nokias or the Motos....Anyone know of a good place to get a e200?

The link I posted above for the I-Mate 2 is the same as the E200

The E200 would not be any good for you as it is SIM locked to Orange

and ONLY Orange can unlock it at the moment.

The E200 is a nice phone apart from the fact that there is no diagonal

direction control, which is a pain on some games

If you are not desperate you could wait until April when the MPX220

is supposed to be released.
