Failed SMS messages deleted!! and T9 quirks

Ok, on the whole I'm loving my MPx200, but there is one MAJOR gripe. SMS messages that fail to send do NOT remain in the outbox, rather they are deleted, or, if you've asked for it, they are put in the sent items folder, and it's a pain in the ass to then send again from the sent items.

This is not a wee quirk of the OS, this is a ridiculous bug. I SMS a lot and they freqently fail. Now, I've heard that this is fixed in Smartphone 2003, so I will be lobbying Orange for an upgrade (I'm pretty sure it's down to them, I'm sure Microsoft have made the software available). Please please please orange, fix this nasty bug!!

One other thing: I'm used to the T9 system that comes with Nokia's and smartphone's is slightly different which I'm still adjusting to. However there is one particularly annoying difference: When the dictionary doesn't have the word I want, my Nokia used to give me a "Spell" option after cycling through the matches it did have. Now tho I have to delete what I've typed, change to slow input method (By holding the * key for longer than I'd like to have to) then typing my word, then changing back to T9 again (again by holding the * for too long). Am I missing something?? There must be a better way to do this??

This may sound negative, but I really am happy on the whole. I love the customisation potential. I've already knocked together my own homescreen layout which is SWEET. Having MSN Messenger on the go is also super.

Here's to a free 2003 ROM upgrade! Come on Orange you know it's good for customer relations!

I second everything you say, it is a VERY annoying bug, nay, VERY VERY annoying bug.

If 2003 will fix this prob (I don't know myself, taking your word for that), then yes I believe we should press Orange to provide it.

I wish to add one more thing I have a major gripe with when composing a text message:

When you need to input a whole string of numbers then obviously hold down * for ages and you can use the number only setting, however if you only need one or two numbers in a text message then it is much easier to press the button with the number you require and use the 0 (zero) key to scroll through the 3 or 4 letters until you get to the number.

This is fine until you want to use a 0 (zero) because this key is mapped to only scroll through word and letter options in T9 mode, to input a single 0 you have to go through all the bull about changing to numbers mode, just for one freekin' digit.

To help you with your 'unknown word' problem daftycom, instead of reverting to non-T9 mode to enter manually, just type it in as if you were in non-T9 mode but use the 0 button to get the letter you want and then press the RIGHT button on the D-Pad to get rid of the underline so you can input another character without changing the previous one.

Hope this helps mate.

We should make a collective effort to get 2003 on the MPx. So, how about a poll or petition for this moderators???

Matt.

Cheers - good tip lawsonium

I think tomorrow I'll knock up a letter to Orange. We may live in an all digital world, but good old fashioned paper still seems to command a response more so than any other medium.

Glad it helped.

I agree, a letter does seem to command more gravity, let me know what you plan to write, you may site me as a supporter

BTW Nice Shades.

As for unknown words in the T9 dictionary, just switch to multipress-mode, type in the word, and a space, after which u can switch to T9 and it will remember the word by scrolling thru via the 0 key.
