E200 - is it worth it??

I'm finding myself increasingly disenfranchised with my e200, and the SPV range in general. I dont want to start another thread just crying about it, but I would like to know how other people are feeling ATM.

I loved my e200 when it arrived. And it does have great features over & above the e100 - primarily for me the new Orange homescreen plugins rule, the accounts handling in the inbox is greatly improved, sms counter -all good!

But the buzzing speaker thing has really started to get to me. I thought I could deal with it at first, but I now find every call I make to be a hassle. I'm sick of not being able to hear people, pressing the phone so hard against my head it hurts ... you know what I mean. There is too much rumour about this being a hardware issue to be ignored. If it is, will the e200 EVER sound OK? And if is, what will Orange do about that? Considering it has been diagnosed as a fault I would expect a replacement with a similar model - but there is no similar SP2003 model. Does anybody expect that Orange will offer us all the next phone with SP2003 as a free replacement? And if not, then what? Do they expect us to all downgrade our phones, because Orange released a defective product?

Obviously some kind of statement from Orange would be nice, but then again, it would be nice if Tony Blair just said "hey, you know what, I think I'll just resign now, coz I've made a bit of a mess of things ..."

Also, and I may be just being impatient here (developers please shoot me down in flames if so! :D ), but before the e200 came out there was a lot of talk about how much easier SP2003 was to program for, and how there would be stacks of great apps available - well, where?? I know its only been out a few months, but the only product I've seen actually developed for SP2003 is orneta notepad!! & a truly fantastic app it is, tho not much different to the original, fantastic version!! And as far as games is concerned, the majority opinion here seems to be that Orange killed the possibility of people developing games for the e200 with the joystick fiasco.

If there is software available, please tell me where. I just got the impression that we were going to see a huge increase in the number & variety of apps being created (freeware, shareware & paid for), and I'm just not seeing that. One of the reasons I'm trying to hold onto the e200 is for SP2003, but apart from the homescreen plugins & better inbox, I cant actually see any real difference between it and SP2002. Well, OK, GPRS does actually connect!

Does anybody else relate to what I'm saying here?? I have loved the SPV range since it came out. But the constant battles with Orange are tiring me now. It was gprs for me with SPV & e100 - which never got resolved. & now its speakers on the e200 - which I dont have any confidence will be resolved. I would just love to get a smartphone which really worked good. I keep looking at the mpx200 and thinking "it's not really downgrading ..."

Maybe it's just me, but I thought I would look for the opinions of some others before finally throwing in the SPV/Orange towel, admitting they beat me, and getting an mpx on vodaphone!

EDIT : I would also love to know if the buzzing speaker problem is exclusive to e200, or does it happen on the 02Xphone & Qtek aswell??

i find it a good phone ,not all the 200's buzz there will be an update sometime soon ,ok the battery sucks but to be honest if you use a nokia or motorola all day gaming ect they will be also flat in a day.the motorola is a womans phone anyway .

 I know! Its the fact that the moto is a clamshell that puts me off! It looks like a makeup mirror!

Cheers for replying m8 - its just what I'm looking for. I want to know if there actually ARE non-buzzing phones. I'm just trying to figure the possibility of it really getting fixed! I've heard rumours about the new e200 ROM update, but no actual info about release dates etc, so I guess it's only realistic to keep the e200 until the update comes out and see what happens!

I was just feeling really p**sed off the other day!!

i have a dutch E200 and i dont have the buzzing problem mine is more i would like more sound ( IT SOUNDS SOMETIMES IVE GOT A MOUSE ON THE LINE ) i know on another posting paul has a newer rom and the problems people have with smart explorer do not happen in the beta update from orange so i hope orange get out the update quickly but in a way not too quick if it means more bugs as its sometimes better to wait a week longer if the update is better

to me, i seriously think the joystick problem is software, because if you look at the internals of the mpx200 its only got four contacts for directions but still manages 8 (or 7 cos of a bug) way. But i dont think MS, orange or HTC will consider it a problem, so i doubt they will fix it

probably not orange but it might be an idea to send an email to motorola themselfs you never know maybe they might have a fix or an idea

The e200 WILL be worth it if the -rumoured- ROM update fixes at least SOME of the problems with the phone. In particular the completely sh*t battery life. Oh and of course the BT and iR issues that seem to be present.

My e200 buzzes and I've almost learned to live with it. Personally I think this is a hardware issue, but we'll see. If it is hardware will Orange recall the phones? I doubt it. They'll just keep burying their heads in the sand I'm sure.

Software availability - that's down to the developers. COME ON GUYS!

As for the downgraded joystick [from the spv/e100], well there ain't much anyone can do about that.

What IR issues? I've not had problems with mine. Bluetooth I havent tried yet, and battery life hasnt been tested either. Buzzing is non-existant in my handset.
