Partial Reset + The Unstoppable Alarm

Recommended Posts

Hi all,

After my phone performed a partial reset the other day, I've noticed a strange quirk with the alarm function.

Before the reset occured, the alarm was set to go off at 9:50 am. Now, every day, no matter what time the alarm is set for, it still goes off at 9:50 am, and also the current set time.

i.e. Alarm set for 8:00 am. Alarm will sound at 8:00 am and 9:50 am!

Apart from performing a hard reset, which I really don't want to have to do, does anyone have any suggestions? Anyone know where to look in the registry as well perhaps?

Cheers,

Matt.

Oh yeah, and does anyone know of a replacement program for the alarm function? I hate having to go into settings / time & date to set the damn thing.

There are no replacement apps for the alarm

Have you tried resetting your alarm back to when it is supposed to go off

activating it then turning it off again.

i have the same problem my alarm goes off every day at 9.00am even when the damn thing is turned off

If you are using a home screen with the lcd plug in it could be the lcd alarm thats going off

I had the above problem, I had to do a hard reset

@Scott, no I'm not using the lcd screen plug-in so it can't be that.

@awarner, good idea. I'll try it later and let you know! 8)

Cheers.

I had the same alarm problem after a soft reset. My alarm would go off at 8:30am no matter what other time i set it at. So what I did is went in and just set the alarm for 8:30am the next day. My alarm only went off once the next morning and then I changed it to 10:00 am for the next day and it was fixed and only went off at 10:00. Dunno if that's what fixed it but it's worth a try

Both you and awarner were correct

Thanks for that. I'm gonna sue someone's ass for allowing the phone to get me up at a time when I really didn't want to. 8)

Just to let you know, this problem also happens when you change time zone, if the alarm isn't switched off at the time when you do that.

Yeah, changing time zones on your phone is a very bad idea and should only be done if you move or something. I did it the first time I went out of town and it screwed up my calendar items and alarm. Now I just manually change the time when I travel. I miss my nokia tdma phone that automatically updated the time wherever I went

Have a look at McTraveller from Fizz Software, it allows you to set up multiple alarms if required. A trial can be downloaded from Handango.com.
