Guest Drew Posted February 2, 2004 Report Posted February 2, 2004 When I start activesync I'm told: "This device name already in use. You must enter a different name for your mobile device." And this even though I'd set up the partnership only 30 minutes previously. I can work with the new partnerships until the laptop is closed down. After that ...... This device name already in use........ I don't know what I've done wrong. I've uninstalled Activesync. And I've tried removing activesync profiles from laptop. Can someone please put me out of my misery!
Guest awarner [MVP] Posted February 2, 2004 Report Posted February 2, 2004 It looks like the phone is not saving it's ID for Activsync, the only thing I can think of is to try a hard reset
Guest Drew Posted February 4, 2004 Report Posted February 4, 2004 Have done a HR. Uninstalled and re-intalled. Shut down, started up. Created new partnership. Still my laptop insists on showing two old partnerships from my (original) SPV phone. Why me lord?
Guest zahar Posted February 5, 2004 Report Posted February 5, 2004 Have you tried deleting the old partnership(s), and then setting up a new one?
Guest Drew Posted February 5, 2004 Report Posted February 5, 2004 Yes. A number of times. EAch time I shut down and restart however, the same two old partnerships appear!
Guest Drew Posted February 18, 2004 Report Posted February 18, 2004 I've a new phone, uninstalled/reinstalled Activesync a number of times and the only partnerships recognised are two old ones which I thought I had deleted! Aarh!
Guest Taoski Posted February 18, 2004 Report Posted February 18, 2004 SOunds like you might need to uninstall ActiveSync and then manually delete the folders from c:program files. It also puts the details of the profiles is creates for each phone in the following location: "C:Documents and SettingsApplication DataMicrosoftActiveSyncProfiles" Failing that - you might want to delete the indicidual partnership keys from the registry: HKEY_CURRENT_USERSoftwareMicrosoftWindows CE ServicesPartners After doing a back up first of course!
Guest Drew Posted February 18, 2004 Report Posted February 18, 2004 Have done all that - except the registry bid which I'm a bit loathe to tinker with. Still no joy. Sorry to be such a nuisance, or should that be 'challenge'!
