Guest chrisc28 Posted February 3, 2004 Report Posted February 3, 2004 Was wondering why no one actually emphasize on this very special feature that only Mitac smartphones have? The Mio 8380 and 8390 are smartphones that plays both MIDI and MMF ringtone files in full 40 chord polyphony (the MPX200, SPV E100 can't). So here's some ringtones which I find plays best on the Mitac. Ringtones for Mitac
Guest FuNKySoULyBrO Posted February 4, 2004 Report Posted February 4, 2004 Hmmm.... Does it mean that other smartphones like mpx200 etc dun have a polyphonic feature? Thats why I find it strange when I tried playing a mid file in Settings->Sounds and it sounded real real crappy, whereas the PhoneRing app make it sound more decent.( Though the best sounding ones would be from my PC itself  ). So smartphone 2002 OS itself can't play midi properly I guess?
Guest Disco Stu Posted February 17, 2004 Report Posted February 17, 2004 These can be used on the E200 :) , though they're not that good :D
Guest mwille Posted February 17, 2004 Report Posted February 17, 2004 I don't see why anyone would still want to use midi when their phone can use high quality .wav files as ringtones...
Guest Disco Stu Posted February 17, 2004 Report Posted February 17, 2004 You get a cleaner, 'punchier' sound with MIDI and less distortion.
Guest CHOICE Posted February 19, 2004 Report Posted February 19, 2004 Ok, very good idea chrisc28. This is my "spanish" music recopilation for my Mitac 8380, the quality is very high in my opinion, but low the phone volume for optimal quality.cancioncillas.rar
Guest chrisc28 Posted February 20, 2004 Report Posted February 20, 2004 The trick is to ensure that the MIDI files contain less bass sound. The polyphonic encoding in the Mitac doesn't handle bass well.
