Guest simonkirkland Posted February 5, 2004 Report Posted February 5, 2004 Hi all, I have had my SPV e-200 for two and a half weeks now and I'm already on my third phone! Both times I have had the phone freeze on the windows mobile screen (have to remove battery to turn off). I've tried to do a reset (rec and power) but it won't do it. It always seems to happen after I have installed some software. I always install apps to my SD card but I've tried to start my phone up with a different SD card in and it didn't make a difference. Has anyone else had this problem or has anyone got a sloution to this? Is there a way of check software before installing it? Thanks Simon
Guest Disco Stu Posted February 5, 2004 Report Posted February 5, 2004 Firstly, you should be able to do a hard reset but it does usually take a few goes to get the knack :? Can you post which programs you suspect of causing the crash. Most things designed for Smartphones have been tried by someone here
Guest simonkirkland Posted February 5, 2004 Report Posted February 5, 2004 I've tried and tried and tried with the phone reset. I've read in lots of places that there is a knack but I don't think it is just me. The screen comes up saying card found then on to the next screen which says press any key. I press and hold the action button (joystick) put it just goes straight to the three colour screen saying canary and version.. and stays there. I've tried lots of different timings but still no different. As for the list of programs, I put lots on: I always try to install everything on the SD card. Attached is zip file containing a screen shot of the contents of my SD card although I'm not sure if this would be a problem as I can put another card in and it does the same. The only thing I can think of is that either these programs install something into phone as well that it doesn't like or I have installed a dodgy program on the phone but I'm not sure what. Thanks for your help guys...list of programs I have on the SD card.zip

Thanks Simon I've had a similar problem - have a look at my thread (in this E200 forum) called "Orange SPV E200 Questions", Page 4, somewhere on there.
Guest MichaelTrim Posted May 7, 2004 Report Posted May 7, 2004 Hi, I had the same problem (freezing on windows mobile screen) mine was app unlocked and and I had recenlty installed a lot of software. Couldn't get the hard reset to work either so what I did was. 1) started hard reset, this always resulted in being stuck on the three colour screen and not being able to do anything 2) whilst on and on 3 colour screen, plug in to cradle 3) run ROM upgrade to v2.04 (or whatever it is) The upgrade runs as normal and your expensive doorstop is a phone again! HTH Michael
