NEW: SMARTFilter - block unwanted incoming calls

hi there,

i am glad to announce the launch of the first smartphone software from the german smartphone community (available in german, english and french!!!). SMARTFilter gives you the opportunity to block unwanted calls before your phone starts to ring. you can block single contacts, callers without caller id or incoming calls from people that are not listet in your contacts. you can forward the calls to your mailbox, any other phone number or simply drop them. now you decide, who can call you. best investment (begins at less the 10 euro) for a silent weekend...

read more here: homepage of the creators.

i hope you like it, feedback is welcome!

cheers, lutz

Cannot be installed on my i600 and i bought the program... I saw nothing saying it wouldn't install on an app locked phone. Oh well hopefully i'll be able to install this program someday... As of right now I have mixed feelings about it

hi buddy,

you should unlock your phone. go here and look for application unlocker. beside the fact that you should try the trial first and read the faq that says apllication unlocked phones only...

one thing when you install the trial version it states a max of 6 names can be blocked in the trial mode ,while this is may be true on the spv on the E200 it allows all to be blocked and i have 35 names in my list the version i installed is the light version as thats the only version i can try.nice app finally i can block my mother in laws calls

I tried the trial version it works it can block incoming calls but it would ring once before giving a busy tone, the caller will think its a rejected call or he might think you rejected his call, is there a way that it wont ring?

mine also rings once before it is rejected...

to the person calling it sounds like you have just hung up on them.

...hm, it should not ring, folks, thats actually the reason for this tool, that it doesnt ring and gives the caller a line busy. please give me some details about your phone: which one do you have? how long is your contact list? is the phone unlocked (otherwise you can forget it anyway as said on the download page)?

we are working on the tool to make it even better and of course to fix the problems some may have with it. update will follow this week.

cheers, lutz

i have a e200. rom 1.6

about one hundred contacts that are stored on the phone and none on the sim card.

have got two numbers blocked.

when someone calls the phone shows the call but then hangs up on them and i get a missed call. the person calling get a second of ring before it goes to the answer phone.

Hi,

this is exactly how it should work (NOPE! There is no other possibility to drop calls). Your mobile should not ring. But the caller will hear one or two rings and thena "busy". But you can forward busy calls to your mailbox (just go to smartphone settings / telephony / call forwarding and enable forwarding on "busy")

I have E100 rom version 1.6 i have about 300 plus contacts, i tried to block my land and other sim card, it will ring once before giving busy tone. so i cant block other number because they might think i rejected their calls.

One really cool feature...

Imagine being in a meeting, where it would be inappropriate to be disturbed by random, or unimportant calls.

However, your baby has been a bit poorly, and the doctor is coming round to check up on him.

So realistically, you WOULD want to take a call from your wife, if there was something serious wrong (this is just an example, but could apply to loads of situations).

By setting Smartfilter to block ALL, and then simply unticking the contacts that match your wife (home, and her mobile for example), it means that you can go into your meeting, safe in the knowledge that no trivial calls will interupt the meeting, but that if the phone does ring, its a justifiable, and urgent or important call from your wife about the baby.

That is an EXCELLENT facility for someone like me, involved in a lot of meetings, but where I might not want to miss that one urgent call from an expected caller.

So well done!

And using the Professional version, you can even set it up to auto switch back after the meeting etc.

I appreciate what you say about the single ring, but to me, it sounds different to a normal ringing tone at the caller end, and the quick divert makes it seem to me at least, as if it is a network thing, an not someone manually rejecting the call, so fine to me.

When I blocked calls from withheld and unknown numbers, it would block ALL incoming calls. I think this is because on my phone, when people call me, sometimes their number comes on on the screen for a couple of seconds before their name comes up. Maybe my phone is getting slow.

Matt, this is what I have been working with the developers for all yesterday, as that's my exact problem as mentioned elsewhere on here.

The original version had issues where IA Caller ID etc were trying to access the contacts database at the same time as SmartFilter, and thus it couldn't get the data fast enough before having to reject the call.

(Or something like this - a bit too technical for me).

The long and short of it, is that I am running a developer version, that speeds up the access, and makes more checks to the contact database. And in short, it seems to work fine.

I would GUESS that as soon as the developers are fully happy with it, they will release the updated version maybe later this week, and you can update to that.

What sort of phone do you have?

I'll look forward to that then. I'm using an original SPV with ROM 1.6.1.10 on O2 with the 300 texts and 300 GPRS minutes internet tariff.

Can somebody explain what the following features are for on the setting page:

1. Launch SmartFilter Automatically option

2. What's does the country code option do

3. What do I enter in "Provider Code" and what's it for?
