The chameleon 6-in-1 (the blue backlit one) does indeed rock, but if you're a complete perfectionist watch out for the *slight* buzz it makes when illuminated.

Yep i have one of 'em. Buzz is a little annoying at night, its a little too senstive to motion and batts run out quickly but it rocks. What the hell does that have to do with SmartPhones thou?! And dont even think bout mentioning the phones ir port and its possible use as a remote.

Let's pretend he didnt mean a smartphone remote program and move this to off-topic. In which case, I like my Sony.

I've helped design remote controls for 5 years, so have had my greasy mitts on most of them. In terms of functionality, ease of use and value for money, you simply cannot beat the Cambridge Audio M1 - £39.99 on promotion from Maplin (www.maplin.co.uk) every other month.

I used to love using an IR program (can't remember what it was called) on my Palm IIIxe, as many buttons for as many machines as you wanted. That's one of the things I miss most about moving from two devices to just the Smartphone.

i was thinking of getting a one4all mosaic but they are 50 quid! getting fed up of having 9 remotes in my front room. anyone got one of these? are they any good?

Posted from my SmartPhone!

Not if you have 9 remotes to replace - the Mosiac only comes in 4 and 6-way versions.

By all accounts they are very good and handle most AV equipment, but yep, they are a lot of money.

Maplin have a great offer on the Sunwave LCD remote at the moment - £39.99. Great bit of kit.

I believe it is 8 - though realistically you have around 30 keys x 8 devices = 240 programmable entries that can learn most IR commands from any one of your handsets. For instance, I use the AUX device for another set of commands for my TV.
