Hi,

I've arrived at work this morning to discover my SPV's SD card slot has developed a fault and will not read/write/recognise any cards.

After spending 40 minuites on the phone to an Orange c/s tubby I was told that I couldn't be transfered to tech supp as "they're not a customer facing operation".

When asked about how I get my phone fixed I was told that I could wait for 3 days for tech support to get back to me or go into an Orange shop.

When prompted on what would happen once they've diagnosed the phone as faulty (which it definately is - not even original SPVe200 cards work) I was told that I could pay £100 and £60 over a year for emergency care or send it to Bristol to HTC and be without a phone for a while.

I dunno about u lot - but I think this is scandolous. It's not my fault the handsets devoloped a fault after 2 months....why should I suffer?

i think orange is doing ok..

i had some sd slot problems after 1 month..

i went to the orange shop.. showed it the guy there..

he noticed it was not working properly and send it out..

2 weeks later i got my phone back and fixed for free

seems normal to me!! they can't go give new phones without

really checking it out.. the'll go bankrupt then.

Greetz

Did you get a replacement handset to use while your phone was being repaired?

This is obviously a manufacturing defect and SHOULD be repaired for free. I dont expect anything to fail with normal use inside of twelve months and certainly I am not gratefull to companies which honour their warranties at considerable hassle to customers.

Also - why should I pay for 2-3 weeks contract (roughly £20-30) for absolutely nothing while they repair a faulty phone?

in 1 way you are right...

but on the other hand it is business.. and you have your sim card .. so you could use it during that time with an old phone etc..

that replacement idea works sometimes with smaller businesses.. not with the big boys itself.. that means i didn't get a replacement.. but i still had my xda2 hehe

To put it simply m8 - you shouldn't have to put up with any of that. Obviously you didnt take out Orange care insurance (which is probably a good idea) but your handset sounds faulty and so should be covered by warranty.

Did you ask to speak to anyone else at Orange? If you get unsatisfactory results, get names and extension numbers, and escalate the call to supervisor/manager level. Just don't let them get away with it. If you get no joy from managers, just tell 'em you want to be transfered to cancellations, as you are so disgusted with their service, you are stopping your contract. If they let you, then just go get an Xphone off 02!

The standards of Orange service differ greatly day to day, customer to customer. Its kind of the luck of the draw as to what will happen on any call really. I have found in my experience tho, that if you are persistent, you usually get results. They're not ALL muppets!!

have you tried carphone warehouse to see if they can repair it? some of em do it but your best bet is going to an orange shop, it should definately be free but you might have to do without a phone for 2 weeks
