MRU- most recently used icons on reboot

I have moved my whole programs menu around because it was annoying me. However I've found something interesting.

The icons on the MRU must be links to the entries in your start menu because when you move you start menu they become dead icons. The next interesting thing is that when you reboot the phone the MRU gets wiped back to it's default state which has like IE, SMS, Solitaire and a couple of others on it.

However this default state must be hard coded somewhere because now my start menu has changed, following a reboot I have a nice little row of dead links. When I go and use apps of course the dead links get replaced with my actual most recently used.

I wouldn't call this a bug really cos it's too insignificant to "bug" me but it's a curious way to design things...

I second that spacemonkey!

Must be an XML for MRU somewhere I guess.. Whatever it is it's prob. gonna be in Windows folder, so totally useless as that gets reset too :D

U can edit the registry, got this tip from midnight, first of all u need a registry editor

goto:HKCUSoftwareMicrosoftShell|StartMRU

press values and select initialorder.

in the value data field rectify the links with the respective locationof the link in the start menu folder (ipsmwindowsstart menu)

u can also put any link u want in the MRU on boot-up

Yep, that was discovered a while back :) Nice tip though. See the tweaks thread for modifications like this and many others.

Would be nice to have a simple app to deal with this. Hint hint :?:

Frankly, I can't understand why anyone wouldn't move the start menu into a more sensible order. It's one of the first things I do after a hard reset.
