Guest keeran Posted February 8, 2004 Report Posted February 8, 2004 Hi all, I've spent the last day or so trying to read as much as I can about this phone. I had it delivered on Friday and I've been mostly impressed by it. However I've noticed 10's of E200 problem threads, all of which dont seem to have been resolved. Issues like Battery life with SD card, general OS speed, audio problems and call answering by joystick are causing considerable doubt as to whether I should send this back before my upgrade locks me into another 12 month contract with an essentially faulty phone. Please can anyone who knows exactly what's going on with the latest releases of these phones post and let me know what the deal is currently? I'm a bit worried about following links for tweaks/patches etc in the majority of these threads as most of them date back to early last year, and I don't want to be knackering my new phone with old software, if you see what I mean - maybe together we can compile a new thread for these phones as I'm sure there are people who will have just upgraded for free (30/month tariff == free SPV in Feb+). Many thanks to you all, Kee :O)
Guest Vector Posted February 8, 2004 Report Posted February 8, 2004 Well there will be updates being released for this phone and Mr Orange told us that we can expect one early this year....
Guest bigdan Posted February 8, 2004 Report Posted February 8, 2004 ....Mr Orange told us that we can expect one early this year.... Mr Orange isn't very good at doing what he promises on time though!!
Guest squall Posted February 8, 2004 Report Posted February 8, 2004 Mr Orange isn't very good at doing what he promises on time though!! I think that’s a little unfair, he works for orange, he doesn’t run orange. maybe he should not give an indication of time as he cannot guarantee the release date, personally im happy knowing that there is an update close to being released.
Guest Disco Stu Posted February 8, 2004 Report Posted February 8, 2004 Keep it mate, its a far better phone than some would suggest. My bet is you won't have the buzzing problem now (I don't) and though its not perfect I believe its the best Smartphone available. Don't worry, Orange won't stand in your way if you want to switch to a different phone later. Posted from my SmartPhone !
Guest Chrimbow Posted February 9, 2004 Report Posted February 9, 2004 im taking delivery of an spve2 soon and have the same concerns as the original poster here. What is this http://www.orange.com/English/forwardthink...date.asp?bhcp=1 update for and it is necessary for newer phones?
Guest keeran Posted February 9, 2004 Report Posted February 9, 2004 That's an update for SPV/E100 phones, not the E200. Decided to keep the phone regardless now anyways - I don't seem to suffer from 'buzz' (although I wish I could increase the treble on call audio) and battery life isn't going to be an issue for me for the near future. Thanks all, Kee
