Guest yoos Posted February 8, 2004 Report Posted February 8, 2004 For some reason my phone doesn't read this SD after about 15 or so minutes. My apps on the SD or my ringtones off my SD don't work... It's annoying... If I take the card out and put it back in it will work again for another 15 or so min... Anyone know if it's a bad SD, or the phone doesn't like Ultra II's or what? Thanks! I just hard resetted my phone a few days ago and that didn't help. I just found these posts, but nobody seems to know the cause of the problem or how to fix it... http://smartphone.modaco.com/viewtopic.php?t=3618 http://smartphone.modaco.com/viewtopic.php...sandisk+problem
Guest yoos Posted February 8, 2004 Report Posted February 8, 2004 hmmm... I just tried to format the SD using SPTask Manager and it says 'Error while formatting the card !'... I just tried to format the card using a card reader and it defaults to FAT32, but there is an option for FAT. I think I chose FAT32 last time, so maybe that's the problem?? It seems that according to this thread and an answer from someone else I asked in chat that it should be FAT. HOPEFULLY this will solve the problem... This Ultra II SD does seem a bit thinner than the standard SD, so maybe the contacts aren't contacting well after having a standard SD in thier for about 9 months?? Anyone else have any ideas???
Guest Brody Posted February 13, 2004 Report Posted February 13, 2004 That sounds a bit odd, after all MMC cards are considerably thinner than SD cards so if the phone's contacts have bent out of shape then that'll be a fault to add to the list :?
Guest yoos Posted February 17, 2004 Report Posted February 17, 2004 OK, I THINK I have narrowed my problem down to two potential causes and was wondering if someone can help. 1. What are all the standard shortcuts in the startup folder on an SPV/E100 right after the 1.6 UK update? (I deleted two of them, maybe this is the problem?) 2. Anyone have any problems with ringtones and apps working on SD after installing XBAR 2.0? The reason I suspect one of these two things is because I am now using my standard Sandisk 256MB (which isn't an Ultra II) and I am experiencing the SAME issue! I did another hard reset, deleted a couple of the shortcuts in the startup folder I THOUGHT weren't necessary, re-installed XBAR 2.0..... and again, the same problem. I killed the XBAR 2.0 process and deleted its shortcut from the startup, so we'll see what happens after a few days use... I'm glad because I strongly beleive it's not an SD issue since I've used the 256MB SD for many months with no problems. I hope I don't have to do another hard reset, but I'm getting fast at recovering after them ;-)
Guest yoos Posted February 18, 2004 Report Posted February 18, 2004 My problem is not related to XBar. I still had the SD problem after disabling XBar. So then I put back the two shortcuts I deleted from the startup folder (Orange Support.Ink and RemoteNotify.Ink) and it seems the phone/SD is working OK for the last 12 hours so far! We'll see if it lasts!
