Guest davey Posted February 9, 2004 Report Posted February 9, 2004 Hi, I have recently purchased a 256MB SD card for my SPV. I also have the 8MB card that came with the phone. I can copy apps and files to the 8MB card without any trouble, but when I try to copy files to the new card, I get "A device attached the system is not functioning", then I get "Make sure your mobile device has sufficient memory, that the file is not set as read-only, and that you have permission to copy this file type". I put the memory card in a friends SPV E100, and it works fine. Any ideas? Thanks, Davey
Guest James Posted February 9, 2004 Report Posted February 9, 2004 welcome to the site  have you tried to format the card... either using a card reader on a PC or using SP Task manager on the phone? might help
Guest davey Posted February 9, 2004 Report Posted February 9, 2004 Hi, thanks for the welcome. Yeah, formatted the card OK using the SP Task Manager app. Also, tried my mates 128MB card in mine and I get the same problem. I would usually think straight away that it is my phone, but why does my 8MB card work??? Confusion! :?: BTW, my phone reads the card OK. ie, when it was in my friends phone, he copied some MPEGS to it, and I can play them OK on my phone. It is just writing to the card that I am having the problem with. Davey
Guest James Posted February 10, 2004 Report Posted February 10, 2004 hummmm??? i would suggest a replacemnt phone, something does not sound right with it.??
Guest davey Posted February 11, 2004 Report Posted February 11, 2004 Yeah, that was pretty much the conclusion that I was coming to. Thanks anyway, Davey
Guest shadamehr Posted February 11, 2004 Report Posted February 11, 2004 Known issue with certain card brands, including, but not limited to Viking. Multi-cell cards won't work well with the E200, even though they work fine on anything else. This manifests itself in the ability to place files, images, songs etc on the SD card using a card reader, and then the E200 can read from the card fine. But as soon as you then try and save to the card from within the E200, you get the errors you mention. Even though the card is technically not faulted, most manufacturers will refund you - certainly eBuyer did for me. If not, take this up with Orange, and indicate that the supplier will not refund you, as technically, its a fault with the phone, not the card.
Guest davey Posted February 16, 2004 Report Posted February 16, 2004 Thank you for that. I think that your suggestion is probably correct. I shall try and send the card back. Davey
