Hello all, I'm new here and new to the whole smartphone thing in general

I've just upgraded from a Nokia 7210 to a e200 on Orange, with double my free minutes, and having had the phone roughly 48hours, I am now looking to get rid of all (or at least some) of my problems with it, before I decide whether or not to keep it.

Firstly, cheers to who ever posted about the SD card/Battery problem. I couldn't believe that the battery on a new phone could only last 16hours, with little usage. That almost got it sent back straigh away.

Next, am I right in thinking that there is no File Explorer, RegEditor or Task Manager directly accesible in the Orange Version of Smartphone 2003? I can find a Task Manager if I go through the Orange Help menu, but I can't find out how to find it's location within the system.

If there isn't these programs within the Orange system, can anyone recommend some programs for these functions? Do I need to DeCert my phone before I can use them (I don't know how to DeCert, but I'll try and work it out myself)

and I guess finally, what are the top ten (top five, top three or however many things you can be bothered with) things I should know about the e200? Tip, hacks, anything. I got this phone because I knew it was Buggy straight out of the box, but I hope has the potential to be a top bit of kit

Cheers

Alex

ps, I'm new here, so if anyones interested, I'm from london, I run my own website/websystems company

Welcome to the site mate

Believe me you've made the right choice. The phone is a lot better than some people make out

Yes, you'll need to application unlock the phone - in theory you should find the instructions for the Orange "Over-the-Air" method (easiest) by clicking on.... OTA ...or doing a Search for the same (make sure you get the new site address)

For the software you're after go to monolithix.org but there are many other Smartphone sites with free/shareware.

Otherwise you want to do some reading in the various threads since everything you want to know has already been covered in depth

Cheers Stu

I've now managed to unlock the phone, put some software on it, and do some more reading.

Basically, I want to strip out all the pre-installed rubbish on it, and improve some of the existing functionality. My biggest gripe at the minute is the Calender functionality (not displaying more than one event a day) and the Messaging (finding out where my draft text messages are stored)

I shall continue my playing and get back with some more questions

Just wanted to know what people have done to their phones to make 'em better (other than just the homescreen stuff)

hey invisible A, i got my phone 2 days ago too! so i can relate to everything your sayin. Task manager is in the accessories folder on the start menu.

draft messages are hard to find. go to your inbox (should say 'new' and 'options' buttons). go to options, account/folders, you'll find it from there.

i havent decerted my fone yet, didnt think i had too? ive installed gnuboy, beersofts battery monitor , etc. what can i do that i cant do right now?

what i wanna know is how do i use the net on the fone thro my pc?

let me know how its goin

I've had mine since last Monday - I'm sure ou don't have to unlock it to install unsigned applications - I can install apps and I haven't done OTA unlock.

I agree with

I have had mine now for 2 months and still have trouble finding stuff on the phone, as for finding the texts that took me over a month to find that out but all in all it is one of the best phones around and after the first update is ready and installed it will be the best phone around.
