Max Memory card size and Media Player question

Newbie with 2 questions about my MPx200.

1) What is the maximum storage card size supported by the MPx200 (Us model). Nothing to be found about this inthe 'Manual' you get, or on the HelloMoto site. I want to install a bunch of new Applications with their data to the card to keep the system memory free, but I don't want to do this, fill up the card, then decide I need larger card, and then have a problem getting the contents of one card transferred onto another. Could I do this with a SM card reader by copying the contents onto my hard drive, then back to the larger card? I'm afraid that the result will be the Applications won't run as they have been copied, and not installed onto the new card.

2) I want to carry around a lot of MPG's, and was attracted to the MPx200 for its Media Player capability, combined with the expandable memory via SD card. But I can't get the Media Player to recognize any files other than those installed to the phone's internal memory. The 'Manual" says you can do this, but says to get 'help' from the Multimedia Help on my PC. Well, it doesn't have anything to say about this, other than to describe the differences between local content and streaming.

If anyone can help, I would be very grateful.

Thanks,

MadSci

i can only answer the 1st question:

The max it can hold is 1GB (if you can find it)...

Yes, you can transfer a bunch of data from one SD to another using a card reader and Temp Folder. I have done this and it doesn't hurt the apps inside. (it's best to use a card reader for files over 50MB to be tranferred to the phone.

And sorry i couldn't answer the 2nd question...WMP seems to recognize my files in the storage card...

Apparently, the Mpx can use SD cards up to 3Gb in size. The catch is that SD cards that big aren't actually on the market yet....

I'm not sure why you're having problems with getting Media Player to see files on the card though- if you go into the "local content" option, it should bring up every playable file on the phone and in the SD card.

MPG's are not compatible with the media player, instead you can use PocketTV which does support MPGs, or Pocket MVP which can playback some DivX AVI's.

The supported formats for the media player can be found in the motorola manual on the hellomoto site.

Hope this helps.

Oh, sorry...i must have read wrong...i thought you meant MP3s

but for Mpegs, do as trashmonkey says, Pocket MVP or PocketTV...personally, i like pocketMVP, but PTV plays it really well too

Thanks again for the help, Pocket TV works great! My only issue is that the sound volume, even when maximized, is too low as it' sonly coming out of the earpiece, not the speaker. Any thoughts about how to fix this?

Also, any personal recommendations for the best software to replace the dreadful Tasks list that is o nthe phone? I have seen several and am unsure how to distinguish them.

Thanks again

I use tasks+ extemely good little program even if the list on the computer & phone disagree sometimes...but that's probably Outlook...

Thanks! I'll give it a serious look.

This forum ROCKS! Makes being a newbie much easier!

FYI, the sound issue has fixed itself. I have no idea why or how. I must have the Healing Touch
