Guest Pulse Posted February 12, 2004 Report Posted February 12, 2004 I have loads of .avi file films. Is there a good program to change these to work on the mpx? And also, is there a good program to make the file size optimized for a smaller screen?
Guest t3dluke Posted February 12, 2004 Report Posted February 12, 2004 Use VirtualDubMod to convert avi files to smaller ones and use something like mainconcept to encode mpgs. For playback use pocketmpv for avi playback (DivX) and pocketTV for mpg playback, although mpv can do both.

Guest scopes64 Posted February 21, 2004 Report Posted February 21, 2004 It hurts to say it .... but ..... Microsoft Movie Maker does an excellent job at converting a wide range of video files for playback on a smartphone.

But I really don't like the WMP player's UI and especially the inability to seek (no position slider) and step (frame-by-frame).

Guest Abdulonline Posted June 1, 2004 Report Posted June 1, 2004 Hi there, One thing that I found when converting files to .wmv format to use on windows media is the fact that after every 6 or 7 seconds, the movie stops and the "buffering" message comes up for a second and then starts again. Does this occur on the Pocket TV Player and thw MPV player as well? I am using the original Orange SPV. Thanks
Guest Vector Posted June 1, 2004 Report Posted June 1, 2004 I suggest downloading and installing Beta Player This plays .avi divx files better than any other software available IMO :) For converting files to .avi i use PocketDivXEncoder, it's easy to convert the videos using that
Guest pornflakes Posted June 2, 2004 Report Posted June 2, 2004 i use windows media encoder its whery easy and good and u can play it in windows media player after use that
Guest mavisdavis Posted June 2, 2004 Report Posted June 2, 2004 I'm with Vector on this one.Its quick and reduces the films quite dramatically :)
Guest schriss Posted June 3, 2004 Report Posted June 3, 2004 Yes, BetaPlayer is unbeatable. I use VirtualDub to convert .avi, I encode video with 1000kbps and audio 64kbps 44KHz mono - this gives AWESOME quality!!! :) BetaPlayer plays that smooth, haven't tried the other players but I doubt they can deal with such high bitrates.
