...I am really hacked off.

Got my e200 yesterday and gave the thing a solid 10 hr charge.

Today, I have:

listened to one mp3

received 6 sms'

attempted to send/receive email - but GPRS seemed to be down - I couldnt connect

taken three pictures

and played two minutes of doom

NO phone calls have been made.

At 1530 (now) battery capacity is at 25%

This is rubbish - my old SPV would be left with at least 75% battery capacity with the same usage.

I am afraid to make a call, lest I flatten the thing.

Unless someone can convince me otherwise, the e200 is going back...I can only imagine if I had made a couple of phone calls - the phone would probably be dead by now.

What a shame - I have been looking forward to getting my e200 and now, I have a phone with a battery life of a working day - if I am lucky.

**Hopefully** one day soon the folks at Orange will release an update that will fix this problem (and all the other problems with the e200). The problem is with the memory card - basically when its in the phone it drains the battery. Very poor indeed.

This is indeed a software issue that much is clear, So come on Orange (or Microsoft?), fix this!!!!

You could take the memory card out for improved battery life, but who wants to do that??? Not me, so I've got into the habit of dropping the phone into the cradle every night before I go to bed.

As far as battery life goes this is the worst phone I've ever seen, but as I like [almost] everything else about the phone I'm keeping mine.

My new e200 battery theory is that the battery level indicator is the problem. When you get the phone the level indicator thinks that the battery is approaching empty when it's half full.

So until you fully charge it then fully discharge it the battery level indicator is providing false information which makes it appear that the phone is running down and needs a recharge.

Just a theory, but it'd explain the fact that everyone who's had the phone a while seems to not have battery problems...

Interesting theory, however... One evening I forgot to stick the phone in the cradle. By 1am it had switched itself off (after a full charge the night before). :?

Not too long ago I left the SD card out of the phone (I wanted to test this specific theory). It didn't need a charge for over two days...

Interesting theory spacemonkey...

I have given the phone a couple of 12-24 hour sessions on the charger after almost draining it and this has IMHO made only a very slight diference to the capacity of the battery to hold its charge.

I left the phone sitting two nights ago (whilst whacking bad guys on Ghost Recon) and noticed that with no use, the battery was losing (according to the indicator) 4% per hour.

Yesterday, 30 mins of mp3 and then no usage during the day resulted in the indicator showing 50% by 1730.

I wonder if Mr O is going to supply extra long extension leads if a future ROM update doesnt address this issue...?

TSCRYPTO,

I upgraded to an E200 when they first came out. But when I used it over 3 days, the battery and buzzing convinced me I had purchased a dead horse.

I returned it, and I think you should do the same with yours.

Wait for the MPX220 to come out..

It would be in Orange's best interests to issue a ROM update to address the battery and other issues prior to the release of the 220.

Otherwise, myself and I dare say others will be making the move away from the e200...and maybe from Orange as well...
