Guest mlufib Posted February 12, 2004 Report Posted February 12, 2004 How do you getthe mpx200 in and out of airplane mode? Thanks
Guest awarner [MVP] Posted February 12, 2004 Report Posted February 12, 2004 Airplane mode is the ability to switch off the radio part of the phone so you can still use the PDA features of the phone without being able to recieve calls etc. As for using this feature it's in the Quick menu options, you get to this by either press and hold the Home button (MPX only) or by pressing the power button quickly.
Guest Pulse Posted February 12, 2004 Report Posted February 12, 2004 Oh right, so it then drops the battery usage a little bit? Or is it just for those who dont want to be called?
Guest svk Posted February 12, 2004 Report Posted February 12, 2004 The idea is to be able to use it on an airplane where cell phone use is not permitted. The ptoblem is trying to explain to the flight attendant that the phone is in "airplane mode".
Guest phonesmarts Posted February 12, 2004 Report Posted February 12, 2004 :lol they say that ALL cell phones, whether in "Plane Mode" or not is prohibited...has anyone ever convinced a flight attendant that your phone is on "Airplane Mode"?
Guest mcwarre Posted February 13, 2004 Report Posted February 13, 2004 Pulse, When in airplane mode the battery useage drops considerably for 2 reasons; firstly, the phone is not either in signal or searching for one which is a big battery saver. Secondly, the phone has the radio (GSM part) switched off which also saves battery life. So there!

Yep some members have, it's down to the Pilot at the time.
Guest actionj Posted February 14, 2004 Report Posted February 14, 2004 I just walk onto the plane with the mpx200 already in airplane mode and have it in my pocket listening to mp3s on my headphones. That way, most people think it's a mp3 player or pda. I haven't gotten any problems from flight attendants, but i hide it when they pass by. If I know it's okay, than that's good enough for me...
Guest jowe11 Posted February 14, 2004 Report Posted February 14, 2004 I work for Delta Airlines, but I was just recently flying somewhere (I had the pleasure of flying first class :D ...just a side note) and while I was playing a game on my phone the flight attendant came by and told me that cells had to be off. I got out of my game and showed her on the phone where it says airplane mode. It took some explaining, but she finally said that she was just behind on the technology. She let me keep it on and it was all good! :)
Guest 6strummer Posted February 15, 2004 Report Posted February 15, 2004 I've had to explain airplane mode as well. So far Delta has not been a problem once I show the attendant the phone. But I also try to "hide" it in my pocket so I won't have to go thru the explanation. There was an article in a mag recently on the MPX 200 that explains the phone. Wonder if showing that to the FA would help?
