Guest Pulse Posted February 13, 2004 Report Posted February 13, 2004 I think I'll be using mine pretty heavily. At least 40 minutes video a day (until the novelty wears off) MP3s playing a lot of the time Taking pictures quite often Playing games/using applications quite a bit Sending texts messages, about 10 a day No internet use 512mb sd card inserted No Bluetooth usage.
Guest TSCRYPTO Posted February 13, 2004 Report Posted February 13, 2004 55-60 minutes... Seriously though, battery life is a major issue - there are a number of threads here discussing this. Have a read and see how you get on. Cheers tSc
Guest Pulse Posted February 13, 2004 Report Posted February 13, 2004 It wouldnt last very long at all then??? Maybe the MPX would be a better idea for me then, as I want to be able to do that stuff most of the time, or would I not see an improvement?
Guest TSCRYPTO Posted February 13, 2004 Report Posted February 13, 2004 As far as I am aware, the mpx has better battery life, but runs the 2002 OS rather than 2003 - and of course there are other differences too. I asked the question regarding the superiority of the mpx over the e200 in a thread in the MAIN section and got some interesting responses. Have a look here. Cheers tSc
Guest Pulse Posted February 13, 2004 Report Posted February 13, 2004 Thanks for that ts. Smoovey had some good points to put accross about the E200, and if it can cope with up to 2 hours of hard usage, and then stay on the rest of the day, I would be happy.
Guest adambern Posted February 13, 2004 Report Posted February 13, 2004 Take a look at the i-mate Smartphone2. I bought one from expansys.com. OK, I paid £294 plus VAT but: Battery life is good. With BT on, an SD card in and so far 1 hour of calls made, I've got 54% of battery left and that's with the phone being on so far for just over 13 hours. When not in use I've calculated that it's standby mode is sucking just 2% of power out of the phone (with BT on and an SD Card in). BT: Works perfectly with my laptop and PocketPC (dialup is the only part I've so far tested) and with my SE HBH-35 headset for incoming / outgoing calls. Oh and it's SIM Free and it appears to be Application unlocked. If nothing else the manual is well put together.
Guest TSCRYPTO Posted February 13, 2004 Report Posted February 13, 2004 This is interesting. A lot of people are thinking seriously about what causes the poor battery life with the e200 and about possible solutions. Worth the read. Cheers (ps - I really dont want to send back my e200 - I'd like ORange to fix this problem - In the final analysis, the e200 is supposed to be the newer better SPV when in effect it is vastly INFERIOR to its predessor in this very important aspect of its operation! I am flummoxed as to how a NEW model can be worse than the old).
Guest Pulse Posted February 13, 2004 Report Posted February 13, 2004 Well what I really have to ask is... Would the MPX actually be any better on battery life? Because I'll be doing exactly the same stuff on the MPX (except taking pics)
Guest TSCRYPTO Posted February 14, 2004 Report Posted February 14, 2004 After draining the e200 battery and giving a solid 24 hours on the charger... 1 hours of GPRS access this morning (web and messenger) and 20mins of DOOM, the battery was at about 70% - not too bad I suppose. (Note - no calls have been made). Have left it sitting for the last two hours and battery is at 60% 10% drop every 2 hours? Maybe - will keep an eye on it this this afternoon.
Guest TSCRYPTO Posted February 14, 2004 Report Posted February 14, 2004 Have been playing White Stripes mp3's for the last 1.5 hours - battery is now at 1/3 - again better than it was last week (see my e200 battery moan in this section of the forum). Fingers crossed a future update will address this.

Guest mcwarre Posted February 14, 2004 Report Posted February 14, 2004 True, but it doesn't touch the MPx. Full charge, then 1 1/2 hr video, 1 hour of calls, 20 mins GPRS and only at 50% battery. Now let me see the E200 have more than 10% :)
Guest londonlad Posted February 14, 2004 Report Posted February 14, 2004 tbh i dont see an increase in battery loss due to apps, i feel that its the same as the mpx. its more the standby mode, where it sucks
Guest adambern Posted February 15, 2004 Report Posted February 15, 2004 how many hours does your phone last? dont use any apps, use from the time you take it of charge to the time it says 5% left or so. im finding it hard to believe the battery life is that much different Yes. Battery is that good. It' been on now 9 hours (standby and 5 mins of calls and a fair amount of fiddling and with BT on as well as an SD card in) and it's down to 70%. You need to remove the IA Application from Windows/Startup and install always on programmes like battery monitors on the internal RAM, not SD. Very impressed especially as BT works everything, so far
