I wanted the cheapest possible tariff. This incidentally happened to have a humongous number of off-peak minutes and 50 free text messages: OVP T-Mobile Freetime 750 - £13.99. Fantastic. But, still, you could go on a £25 month contract for one month then change back to a cheaper £ per onth the second month :) That's if you buy from Orange shop, don't know about other places.

I don't think that would work Mr, you have to be on the tariff you sign up with for four months or something or they charge you a "clawback" fee for the handset. At least, most places do, I dunno about Orange direct.

Guest nedge2k Posted February 17, 2004 Report Posted February 17, 2004 My mate runs an orange shop and let me know of a little known fact. O do a tarrif for £10. Its sum sort of data plan. Dont know much about it but when i got skint with my last contract i changed to that and no charges. Just used my payg sim. Usually its the shop you bought the phone from that charges if you change tarrif within four months because O go to them for the money. If its a chain like The Link u'll be ok but if its a private shop then they might come looking for ya! P.s. got mine for free from the link when it came out. Just had to do a bit of blagging.

It was £99.99 on A £60 A MONTH CONTRACT. In contrast the "pile of crap" SPV was about... FREE on the same contract... perhaps because, as you suggest, "they were glad to get rid of it"? The Panasonic was one of the freshest newest ideas on the market then, one of the most advanced, attractive, very well made, well sized mobile cameras. Better than the SPV anyway. Huh... :roll:
Guest re_78019 Posted February 20, 2004 Report Posted February 20, 2004 I had the original SPV and it was clear from the word go that the thing was a bit of a lemon - the Orange staff seemed fairly wise to this too in time. My SPV crashed and lost all its' phonebook data after it was lost and barred. Orange Data Support spent 7 hours on the phone to me and their advice to try and sync it to recover the phone's data caused me to lose the matched contents of my PC's address book too!! I have been using my Ericsson T39 out of sheer frustration lately and I think I might have even lost the SPV, although I'm still paying Orange Care on it... I'm just sick of ringing them up. Question is is the E200 really good enough to warrant my taking another chance with an SPV? The spec seems to be what I want, if all the issues (or the worst ones) from SPV1 are resolved I'll get myself one. Whether Orange will give me one as things stand I don't know - I'm a very good customer to them - £80 a month contract etc with a couple of months left to run.... Any suggestions please, guys?
Guest Trancemaster Posted February 20, 2004 Report Posted February 20, 2004 Except for the buzzing ear piece, I would say that the E200 is a hundred times better than the SPV. It's fast, responsive and doesn't take 10 minutes to boot up. I love mine to bits already and I've only had it a few days. You might want to wait for the ROM update though.
