Guest craigblade Posted February 14, 2004 Report Posted February 14, 2004 Hi there, I am considering moving to O2 when my contract expires in 3 months - basically so I don't have to keep paying £5 a month for the insurance, as I have only just got the emergency insurance. However, how soon could I return to orange as a 'new' customer? Orange CS have said they accept customers back whenever, but would O2 require me to stay with them for a certain amount of time? craig
Guest awarner [MVP] Posted February 14, 2004 Report Posted February 14, 2004 If you do not want want to pay for insurance why have it? as it's not compulsory. As for O2 you would have to stay with them for as long as the contract stated which is normally twelve months.
Guest mcwarre Posted February 14, 2004 Report Posted February 14, 2004 As for O2 you would have to stay with them for as long as the contract stated which is normally twelve months. Unless you go PAYG! :) :D
Guest craigblade Posted February 14, 2004 Report Posted February 14, 2004 Yeah I meant O2 pay as you go. How long if I was to go on O2 pay as you go would I have to stay with them before moving back to orange? (if I wanted to move back at all that is). I'm only getting the insurance as my original SPV has loads of bugs with it which I'm not happy with, and the only way to get a replacement phone is getting the insurance. I could always stay with orange and just upgrade at the end of my contract but then I'm gonna be paying £5 on top of my bill every bill, and as I'm a (poor!) student I'm trying to spend as little as possible!! craig
Guest Lourdes Posted February 14, 2004 Report Posted February 14, 2004 You wouldn't have to wait any time at all, you can be with whoever you like at whatever time. Especially if it's PAYG.
Guest beersoft Posted February 15, 2004 Report Posted February 15, 2004 just ask for your pak code that normaly closes your account and gets things moving for a network change, i did that with T-mobile, they just dropped my account to the lowest tariff and let me go 4 months early. i did have to pay for the outstanding rental left on my contract tho. later Owen
Guest awarner [MVP] Posted February 15, 2004 Report Posted February 15, 2004 To add what beery has posted, you need the pak code if you wish to keep your number, this normally costs but I'm not sure if you can move your number from contract to PAYG or even back again.
Guest shadamehr Posted February 15, 2004 Report Posted February 15, 2004 A PAC code can be used to go from Contract to PAYG, and vice versa, Please understand however, from someone who had a long running dispute with Singlepoint and through the then OFTEL over number ports etc, that a PORT only happens when their is a change of Network (for example O2 to Orange). If you end a fulfilled contract with O2 and then try to take your number to another O2 contract/PAYG or whatever, even if with completely different Service Providers, then this is NOT a Port, but in fact a Migration. And the reason for saying this? A PORT carries legal obligations on the part of the Networks, enforceable by the now OFCOM, and is a right you have. A migration carries no real legal obligation yet, and is subject to nothing more than a voluntary policy on the part of the networks, and can not be enforced by OFCOM. (Though this is eventually to change, I am told).
Guest goinnuts Posted February 16, 2004 Report Posted February 16, 2004 err the answer you want is 3 months. dont know why. they never tell me that.
