Guest Chaos Posted February 15, 2004 Report Posted February 15, 2004 This is probably covered elsewhere, but as the site search isn't working I'll risk it... When I try to sign in on MSN Messenger on my SPV e100 I get the following error message: 'sign-in to MSN Messenger Service failed because the service is not responding. Try again later.' I have had the same problem for the last 3 days (I think), despite it woking perfectly before. I use the same sign-in details that work on my PC, and the same connection settings that work on Internet Explorer. Any ideas why it won't work? Is this a problem with MSN? Also, how do I browse WAP pages on my phone? Web is great, but there are certain WAP sites I used to browse on my old phone that I can't access for some reason. Thankyou.
Guest niacin65 Posted February 15, 2004 Report Posted February 15, 2004 MSN Messenger for Smartphone 2002 has been dicontinued for quite sometime now on older original factory ROMs. You either have to get the upgraded ROM from your provider (if available), or get a phone with Smartphone 2003, or use Agile Messenger (as I do).
Guest Chaos Posted February 15, 2004 Report Posted February 15, 2004 I was able to use MSN messenger with no problems up until a few days ago. I think I have an ROM upgrade, or at least this is what I was told when I bought the phone. This is what my 'about' page says: ROM update versions: Operator: 1.50.8.6 Manufacturer: 1.50.8.6 Microsoft: 3.0.13258.0 Language: 1.50.8.6 File system: 3.0.13258.0 I'll try Agile Messenger if it gives me the same features as MSN.
Guest awarner [MVP] Posted February 15, 2004 Report Posted February 15, 2004 You need to have the Orange update 1.6 to get MSN to work.
Guest Chaos Posted February 15, 2004 Report Posted February 15, 2004 You need to have the Orange update 1.6 to get MSN to work. But why was I able to use it fine up until a few days ago? It seems odd. BTW, I'm on o2 online (free wap/texts/gprs)
Guest awarner [MVP] Posted February 15, 2004 Report Posted February 15, 2004 MSN changed the way it worked late last year and only the 1.6 update cured this.
Guest Chaos Posted February 16, 2004 Report Posted February 16, 2004 I think I've solved the problem after tweaking a few connection settings. In case anyone else has this problem, this is what i use (edited from another post): Proxy Connections: name: 02 Wap Proxy Connects from: The Internet Connects To: WAP Network Proxy: 193.113.200.195 Type:HTTP Dial Up connection: name: o2 CSD Connects to: The Internet Country code:44 Dial code: 7712 Phone num:927927 username: o2wap (NOT payandgo, which I used before) password:password GPRS connection: name: o2gprs Connects to: The internet Access point: payandgo.o2.co.uk username:payandgo password:password In Data Connections: Internet connection is set to o2 CSD WAP Connection set to o2 GPRS In Internet Explorer I use 'wap network', don't detect settings. This allows me to connect to both MSN and Agile Messenger over normal wap (GPRS only works on internet explorer for some reason). These settings may be incorrect, but they work for me at the moment, despite it taking ages to connect.
