Guest dbrook Posted February 16, 2004 Report Posted February 16, 2004 I was using an automatic signature with my SMS messages. However, when I wanted to turn this feature off I found that I couldn't I un-ticked the boxes and cleared the signature text out but when I then wrote a new SMS, the signature was there again. When I looked in the settings, the signature was there again. I've tried several times to remove the signature but can't. I've tried doing it and re-starting the phone but the signature was still there. I'm resigned, at the moment, to have a blank space as the signature as this seems to be the only way to fudge what I actually want to do. Is this a known problem? Does anyone know how to resolve this problem? Thanks, Darren
Guest newquay_kev Posted February 16, 2004 Report Posted February 16, 2004 Well would you believe it. Looks like yet another e200 bug has just been uncovered. Apologies (on behalf of myslef and dbrook) if this has been posted/mentioned before - I've searched on this and found nothing. I too have this problem. I created a nice simple signatuture for my SMS messages. Sent a text and it there it was. But like Darren - I can't get rid of the signature now! I set the signature up for SMS messages only. I then removed it in the settings and it appeared to go. Went to send an SMS and the signature was there again. Here is the odd bit, which is slightly different (I think) to the behaviour Darren mentioned. The signature setting has been removed from the SMS account -- but it now appears in the settings for the ActiveSync account?!?!?!? Didn't even know you could send messages through ActiveSync...., anyhow I can't get rid of it and it adds the signature to my SMS messages when I've specifically told the phone not to (haven't tried MMS). So yes, I have the same problem on my phone. :-( Anybody else???
Guest newquay_kev Posted February 16, 2004 Report Posted February 16, 2004 ANYBODY ELSE CAME ACROSS THIS????
Guest jbrare Posted February 17, 2004 Report Posted February 17, 2004 Mine does the same. If I add a signature to SMS I cant remove it either. I did this a while ago and consequently had to do a hard reset for other reasons but that cleared the little bugger!!
Guest newquay_kev Posted February 17, 2004 Report Posted February 17, 2004 I've not had the need to do a hard reset yet, so I'll put up with this minor glitch. - I can put up with the buzz and poor battery, so a signature is trivial I suppose. This is still one more e200 bug to add to the list though. :-(
Guest Toyota-F1.com Posted February 17, 2004 Report Posted February 17, 2004 Wow, is it only me who fiddles with the minor features in a phone? I've only had it 2 weeks now... or 3 weeks? Anyway, I also added a signature and I had the same problem. What you have to do is here you entered the signature e.g. "My phone can do signature's nah nah!!!" you have to delete it i.e. go to the signature and press the back button (the button with a whooshy arrow) and that clears it up. However, for some reason other boxes get ticked all over the place, yes! And, you'll notice that there are about 3 lines already there when you begin an SMS - about 7 characters. I had to do a hard reset for another reason and that did clear the problem.
