Guest nickcornaglia Posted February 18, 2004 Report Posted February 18, 2004 New Tasks Homescreen Plugin! RemyJ has done it again with RJTasks! About a week ago, users asked RemyJ for a follow-up to his Generic Shortcut Homescreen plugin, RJShortcut. He's come thru already with his new RJTasks plugin that shows the number of Tasks (ToDo's) on the homescreen, specifically, the number of Pending, Past-Due, and Completed Tasks. >>> DOWNLOAD HERE <<< Pend = Number of Pending Tasks Past = Of the Pending...Number that are Past Due Comp = Completed Tasks Even better, it is customizable in a couple of ways: By editing the XML, users can choose which tasks program is activated when the plugin is clicked on using the action button. (ie. The built in Tasks program, Developer One's PowerTasks, Oxios, etc). In his example, shown above, RemyJ has also chosen to show the icon of the program used as well. Great Job RemyJ! I'm sure new homescreens are immediately being created using your new plugins and we hope to see more of your work VERY SOON! PS. Good Luck at the Dentist Remy!
Guest Uzay Posted February 18, 2004 Report Posted February 18, 2004 finally... ;-) looks great, going to put it in, my already stuffed with plugins, homescreen... and i will let you know how it goes....
Guest Machineman Posted February 18, 2004 Report Posted February 18, 2004 NICE RemyJ!!!:) This is great to use something really handy keep up going!!!! Greetzzzz Machineman. Jeroen
Guest lutzh Posted February 18, 2004 Report Posted February 18, 2004 perfect! i was experimenting with the other task plugin but it did not work so well since it was absolutly not configurable. this one is. thank you for the nice job! cheers, lutz
Guest hippotech Posted February 18, 2004 Report Posted February 18, 2004 Is it just me ? I have installed the tasks plugin, but it does not seem to update when I complete or add a new task. Hippo
Guest nickcornaglia Posted February 18, 2004 Report Posted February 18, 2004 Immediate on my MPx200. Did you restart your phone after installing? What kind of phone do you have?
Guest sonofabit Posted February 18, 2004 Report Posted February 18, 2004 I get nothing but the Tasks icon on that line on my E100.
Guest RemyJ Posted February 18, 2004 Report Posted February 18, 2004 I get nothing but the Tasks icon on that line on my E100. Strange. Did you modify the XML any? Are you using the sample or did you move it into your own homescreen definition? If you moved it, can you try the sample and see if it works there?
Guest sonofabit Posted February 18, 2004 Report Posted February 18, 2004 I'm using the sample. And nope, I didn't modify the XML any. It's wierd. Sometimes, I can see what looks like a couple of dots in that line.
Guest wahblow Posted February 18, 2004 Report Posted February 18, 2004 I am having trouble with it aswell. Firstly it doesn't seem to work with the 'Orange' default homescreen, and when I add it to another I simply see what looks like some dots.
Guest RemyJ Posted February 18, 2004 Report Posted February 18, 2004 I am having trouble with it aswell. Firstly it doesn't seem to work with the 'Orange' default http://smartphone.MoDaCo.com/viewtopic.php?t=714>homescreen, and when I add it to another I simply see what looks like some dots. I wonder if it's a font issue? I had this happen once during testing but couldn't reproduce it. Encece had it once as well. It looked like scribbling. Try this... Use the ActiveSync explorer to navigate to /IPSM/Application Data/Home and delete any home*.hif files (if any) and power-cycle the phone. Also, what languages and locales are your phones set to? Maybe that makes a difference.
Guest nickcornaglia Posted February 18, 2004 Report Posted February 18, 2004 When I saw the scribbling....I switch to another homescreen and back again. I have not had problems since and cant reproduce.
Guest sonofabit Posted February 18, 2004 Report Posted February 18, 2004 It's fixed. It seems that is my Language is US English, but my locale is US (Canada), it was messed up. It's fixed now. Thanks! Great home screen!
Guest hippotech Posted February 18, 2004 Report Posted February 18, 2004 I have an MPx200 - seems to me that it is fine after a restart of the phone. I have been playing with my homescreen, trying to get it just right with the plugin. It seems that if you change the homescreen lots of times ( about 20 in my case ) it gets stuck, doesn't update and I got the dots someone mentioned earlier. A quick power on / off fixes it...... Hippo
Guest RemyJ Posted February 18, 2004 Report Posted February 18, 2004 Thanks Hippo. I'll do a stress test and see if I can figure out what's getting hung up.
Guest wahblow Posted February 18, 2004 Report Posted February 18, 2004 My locale is set to UK English. Any ideas on how to get it working with the default homescreen. When I've tried to use RJ's homescreen, the phone can't recognise it
Guest hippotech Posted February 18, 2004 Report Posted February 18, 2004 Don't spend to much time RemyJ - when your plugin got stuck - so did the built-in calendar plugin - I changed an all-day appointment and it didn't change on the homescreen. I think it's more a Smartphone 2002 issue - can't say the same for the dots though ( also, seemed to switch to italics at one point  ). Hippo

When I've tried to use RJ's http://smartphone.MoDaCo.com/viewtopic.php?t=714>homescreen, the phone can't recognise it When you say "can't recognise" can you be a little more specific? When you look at Homescreen - Settings does "RJTasks" not show up in the Home screen layout list? You can include the plugin in any homescreen by copying the XML definition from the rjtasks.home.xml to any other home.xml.
Guest goinnuts Posted February 18, 2004 Report Posted February 18, 2004 i had all these probs before. just change to the sample xml then change back. once youve done that switch your phone on and off. it should now work.
Guest mwille Posted February 18, 2004 Report Posted February 18, 2004 Another nice one RemyJ ! Managed to fit it into my homescreen (just about enough space left  ) I did use a 12x12 icon to make it blend in with the rest of the plugin icons (which are actually bgimages) One little thing though : I use a selected state that does nothing else then show the selected plugin in BOLD text. This works fine on the Tasks plugin but for some odd reason it also shows a black b-border.. :?:

Bold only and no borders. Are you setting the "selected" formatting in the plugin's XML section or in the homescreen's default section?
Guest v1nn1e Posted February 18, 2004 Report Posted February 18, 2004 Will someone be able to put this into the new orange homescreen. Can't seem to be able to get it working.
Guest Machineman Posted February 18, 2004 Report Posted February 18, 2004 Hey RemyJ Is already in my skin that I discussed with you looks and runs fine. Any possibilities to update my question HAHAHA :) Greetzzzz Machineman
Guest Jerry Raia Posted February 18, 2004 Report Posted February 18, 2004 I had the scribbles too after i modified the xml. I uninstalled and reinstalled the app, copied back in my modified xml, worked fine after that. I have the i600. Great app :)

Is that phone specific or can I do that on my i600?
