Guest MrMagoo Posted February 18, 2004 Report Posted February 18, 2004 Ok, This is for turning the SD card on and off. I am still in the middle of testing whether or not this makes any difference to the life of the battery, so I have posted this up for other people to help in that testing. How to use it: 1. Insert SD card 2. Run this program (It installs to accessories folder on start menu) to turn the card off. 3. Run again to turn card back on. (or re-insert card) Please test battery life using this and report back so we can evaluate it's usefulness...BLmanualSD.CAB
Guest capt_janeway Posted February 18, 2004 Report Posted February 18, 2004 Wow another great app Mr M =D>
Guest Baddass Posted February 18, 2004 Report Posted February 18, 2004 cool, im getting my SPV soon, hope this works, would b a great way of saving on that precious battery life :)
Guest peekie Posted February 18, 2004 Report Posted February 18, 2004 nice little app its a shame it cant be installed onto the homescreen start up so you could switch the sd card on and off before going through the menus as i have as many others have 90% of the progs and games on the sd card would be so handy if it could be loaded in the start up icons ,good app again well done will try it on my e200 see if it will extend the lifespan of the batt =D> =D>
Guest peekie Posted February 18, 2004 Report Posted February 18, 2004 notice spv shuts down quicker and also starts up quicker as well ive put a shortcut into the startup and it switches the sd card off on start up now only to figure a way to get an icon on the home page and its the tops
Guest rgangemi Posted February 18, 2004 Report Posted February 18, 2004 I hope I aint sounding stupid. But I am having trouble installing this app. When I download and open the cab file all I get is an xml file and a 001. How do I install this?? What else should I be doing??
Guest stevewright Posted February 18, 2004 Report Posted February 18, 2004 Can you not assign it a speed dial? I haven't got an E200 yet, so apologise if that won't work...
Guest stevewright Posted February 18, 2004 Report Posted February 18, 2004 Don't open the cab file. Run it on the SPV.
Guest rgangemi Posted February 18, 2004 Report Posted February 18, 2004 thanks. install worked well. lets see if it saves battery life. Fingers crossed!
Guest peekie Posted February 18, 2004 Report Posted February 18, 2004 yes you can speed dial it and it works perfectly mr magoo ,as my sd card is switched off automatic and switched on manually through a speed dial, just need it on the home screen instead of solitaire
Guest kjk Posted February 18, 2004 Report Posted February 18, 2004 now only to figure a way to get  an icon on the home page and its the tops      peekie you can do that by a little twaek of midtnight Ever wanted to change the default icons of the MRU? (the icons displaying Inbox, Contacts, Calendar, Internet Explorer etc) Fire up RegEdit, and go to: HKEY_CURRENT_USER/Software/Microsoft/Shell/StartMRU Select 'Values' Select 'InitialOrder' and now just change/add to the links (see the Start Menu Order tweak for info on links in the IPSMWindowsStartMenu folder. I HOPE THIS WORK FOR E200 THIS IS A E100 TWEAK
Guest stuF Posted February 18, 2004 Report Posted February 18, 2004 are there reasons why this couldnt work on the original SPV, would be cool if it really does speed up startup/shutdown.
Guest kjk Posted February 18, 2004 Report Posted February 18, 2004 are there reasons why this couldnt work on the original SPV, would be cool if it really does speed up startup/shutdown. This is a E200 app so it's don't work on orignal spv or E100
Guest MrMagoo Posted February 18, 2004 Report Posted February 18, 2004 are there reasons why this couldnt work on the original SPV, would be cool if it really does speed up startup/shutdown. if people decide that this is usefull, I will make a version that works on SPV/E100/2002 ...
Guest stuF Posted February 18, 2004 Report Posted February 18, 2004 pardon, this is my real name (stuart F):!: also, this would definatley be useful it its poven to speed things up!!!
Guest sgannon Posted February 18, 2004 Report Posted February 18, 2004 Can't believe I just selected "Storage Card" during installation.. Here goes my second attempt!
Guest MrMagoo Posted February 18, 2004 Report Posted February 18, 2004 Can't believe I just selected "Storage Card" during installation.. Â Here goes my second attempt! take a bonus for honesty :) :D
Guest sgannon Posted February 18, 2004 Report Posted February 18, 2004 Just got my E200 and it's the 10th app I've installed in a row so I'd switched off my brain! Great app by the way..
Guest A.Hughes Posted February 18, 2004 Report Posted February 18, 2004 top Dollar!!!!!!!!!! loaded fine, works great with speedial, switches on oand off no probs. Will let you know how the battery goes in 24hr :)
Guest Captain Vallo Posted February 18, 2004 Report Posted February 18, 2004 Just got the E200, just learned about the issues (well the battery), just found out how bad the battery life is with the SD card for myself..... I desperately want to keep the phone and the option of using the SD card for MP3s So a very big thank you for providing this application Let us hope this can help us until a firmware fix is forthcoming Cheers
Guest peekie Posted February 18, 2004 Report Posted February 18, 2004 one thing ive found out is that the icons do not return to the menu when the sd card is switched back on ( the main menu does return its the others not eg games ) but the battery power is higher than normal by one bar so it works if the app can be on the home page it would be perfect and the putting of the shortcut in the start up menu switches it off without doing a thing a good start mr magoo   :wink:i will give you idea a goo kjk thanks for the tip
Guest nedge2k Posted February 19, 2004 Report Posted February 19, 2004 Just an idea... Ok, this would be seriously over doing things but what if it could automatically shut down sd after a period of inactivity and then switch back on when an application calls the slot. Probably impossible to distinguish weather an app or the system is calling the slot but its just a thought
Guest ultimasnake Posted February 19, 2004 Report Posted February 19, 2004 i dont have the chance to try it yet but will let you know if i did and if it works.... might be nice as an homescreen plugin :)
