Guest Rob_Quads Posted February 18, 2004 Report Posted February 18, 2004 Just a little bit of a poll to see what % of phones are affected by this buzzing problem.
Guest Pulse Posted February 18, 2004 Report Posted February 18, 2004 Mine does not buzz, unless it's un-noticable.
Guest Disco Stu Posted February 18, 2004 Report Posted February 18, 2004 Ditto - surely all the buzzing handsets have gone through the system by now
Guest biffsmash Posted February 18, 2004 Report Posted February 18, 2004 Mine doesn't buzz on all calls, but if i turn the speaker volume up above lowest setting the other person becomes far too bassy to understand. Have to have it on lowest volume to hear them properly. The buzzing isnt the main prob for me, more the extreme bass on the earpiece ;/
Guest londonlad Posted February 18, 2004 Report Posted February 18, 2004 heres a tip use something to cover the speaker grills, it blocks the vibrations/bass but you can still hear clearly. maybe a case, heard of using selotape. trust me try it. HTC have most probably used the same speaker as in previous spv's but on the e200 the grill holes are big enough to hear the vibrations.
Guest spacemonkey Posted February 18, 2004 Report Posted February 18, 2004 My experience is of a buzzing handset. However, I believe the buzzing is something to do with the codec they are using rather than some physical speaker issue. To confirm this make a call using the headset. You will hear exactly (or similar) buzzing. This means the buzzing isn't about the physical speaker... it's something else. Hopefully if/when we see an update it'll buzz less.... unless it's the signal processors...
Guest Rob_Quads Posted February 18, 2004 Report Posted February 18, 2004 i agree with spacemonkey its not to do with the physical speaker as i get the same problem with the headset which does not even use the headset. The difference is clearly audiable when you ring 150 on a 'buzzing' SPV E200 compared with a SPV which has no distortion.
Guest eyup Posted February 18, 2004 Report Posted February 18, 2004 Ditto - surely all the buzzing handsets have gone through the system by now Just received mine today - literaly half an hour ago - it buzzes :) going to look round the forum for solutions - or do i just send it back and ask for another straight away? :?
Guest DancingMatt Posted February 18, 2004 Report Posted February 18, 2004 Two buzzers out of two phones. And it buzzes on the headset too. This second phone also appears to be slightly slower and the joystick isn't as good as the previous either. Going back...
Guest eyup Posted February 18, 2004 Report Posted February 18, 2004 been playing a bit - buzzes on headset with 450 & 150. Doesnt buzz when i phone my home landland though.
Guest rortec Posted February 18, 2004 Report Posted February 18, 2004 I'm not sure if I'm getting a buzzing but I'm definitely getting something extra! The ear piece sometimes sounds like it has a damaged diaphragm. To correct this you can turn the volume down but then...... it becomes too bassy. Also my joystick is on the piss. Looking at the phone straight on it is permanently leaning slightly to the left, doesn't seem to cause any problems though (except in my mind)
Guest drblow Posted February 18, 2004 Report Posted February 18, 2004 Ditto - surely all the buzzing handsets have gone through the system by now No. Unfortunately for the rest of us, it appears that there are some very lucky e200 owners who do not have buzzing handsets. Either that, or you're all deaf, coz if you did have a buzzing handset, you'd know. I find it strange that some people don't know if it buzzes - if thats the case, I'd guess it doesn't coz anyone who has used my phone immediately says they hear it. & as proven by the fact that 2 people who have recently recieved e200's have the buzzing problem. There was another poll a while ago in which about 50% of people reported buzzing - it'll be interesting to see if thats changed. I'm on buzzer no. 4, which I got at around the middle of January. I would love to think that spacemonkey's ideas were correct, but as time passes & Orange still refuse to even post a "known fault" notice with CS, I can't help feeling that there is/will be NO solution to this problem.
Guest Toyota-F1.com Posted February 18, 2004 Report Posted February 18, 2004 As far as I can tell, my first handset I got 2 weeks ago doesn't have buzzing. I think it's some kind of supernew version - have a look at the Issues Discussion page 6 I think for more info.
Guest Toyota-F1.com Posted February 18, 2004 Report Posted February 18, 2004 Looking at the phone straight on it is permanently leaning slightly to the left, doesn't seem to cause any problems though (except in my mind) Mine is a bit to the left too - but I think it's because of inaccurate building/measuring.
Guest Rob_Quads Posted February 19, 2004 Report Posted February 19, 2004 Looking interesting so far. 41 Handsets of which 37 faulty = 90%+!!!!!
Guest Captain Vallo Posted February 24, 2004 Report Posted February 24, 2004 Mine buzzes but I can live with it and will use it as the excuse to get it replaced on contract when the case/screen gets damaged.
Guest newquay_kev Posted February 24, 2004 Report Posted February 24, 2004 I think they all buzz to some extent (mine certainly does). Apparently the upcoming ROM update addresses the issue, but we'll see. Like Captain Vallo, I'll also use this as my excuse for replacement when it gets a few too many cosmetic blemishes.
