Guest aLmonD Posted February 19, 2004 Report Posted February 19, 2004 I have an MPX200 and using the $4.99 Unlimited T-Zones plan. I have not yet been able to sign on with Agile Messenger, so I decided to do a little investigating. Everyone puts up posts saying that Agile Messenger should work under T-Zones because it uses Port 80, the same port for HTTP, but it wasn't working for me. When I connect my MPX200 to my computer and use the passthrough connection, I can connect to Yahoo, MSN, and AIM just fine using Agile Messenger (haven't tried ICQ or Jabber yet). On my router, I blocked every port EXCEPT for port 80. On my computer, I was able to browse the web just fine, but I was not able to sign on to AIM (which by default uses port 5190). I changed the settings under my AIM to use port 80, and THEN it worked fine. And then I tried signing on using Agile Messenger on my MPX200, and guess what the result was? I couldn't sign on to any of the services that I was able to use before I blocked all the ports. So.. my conclusion is that Agile Messenger doesn't use Port 80, it uses some other ports. And that means you can't use Agile Messenger with T-Zones. I will try upgrading to the $19.99 Unlimited Internet plan and see if that will fix the problem. Updates later.
Guest mpx4ever Posted February 19, 2004 Report Posted February 19, 2004 I have the tmobile 4.99 tzones plan as well. I was able to use agile messenger just fine with all the services until 5 days ago when the it asked me to upgrade to a newer version of agile messenger. So, that indicates that maybe the new program does not use port 80. Now I'm receiving a trusted certificate error while trying to install the upgrade and the application will not load correctly, although it does load, but I cannot connect at all now. I have a unlocked mpx200 with alphaflux app unlock installed and the original firmware loaded on tmobile. All other services including web, sms, mms work great for me right now. I would love to use agile messenger without paying that 19.99 for tmobile. any help would be appreciated!
Guest quikie Posted February 19, 2004 Report Posted February 19, 2004 i am on that plan too exept it worked once when i first installed it and then just stopped.
Guest yoos Posted February 19, 2004 Report Posted February 19, 2004 I just posted about this too... http://www.modaco.com/ftopic103271-60.html I agree that it isn't using port 80. I finally made the plunge and upgraded to the $19.99 unlimited internet today. After I did that Agile Messenger 2.0 worked fine. It sucks that it's not using port 80, but I'm guessing it can't if the new version is direct connecting to each IM service as they said it is vs. logging into middleware first (which the middleware could be on port 80). I'm not sure why version 1.0 isn't working anymore though, which did work for me in the past...
Guest aLmonD Posted February 19, 2004 Report Posted February 19, 2004 I just upgraded to the $19.99 and everything works great now! I do agree that $19.99 is pretty steep though for messenger service, but I have a laptop so now I can go online wireless completely unhindered!
