Play in the hinge...

Hello all. I had a question about if your MPx200's have a little play in the hinge when closed. Mine is rock solid when open but when closed it can move side to side a little. Is this normal?

Also, is it better to charge the phone by the wall adapter or by the USB cradle that came with the phone connected to a computer? Thats all for now. I am in the US and I use the phone with ATT. I love it. It replaced an SX56 which was fine but large. Thanks for all the posts.

Cheers,

Christian

Welcome to the site :)

With the movement yep it's normal and will lead to a slight marking

on the screen where the Motorola logo is.

As for charging I use the USB mainly and the charger at work

both ways are fine to use :D

Ohhh i wonder what caused that marking! i wouldn't say mine was all that slight tho, and it covers the whole logo. Almost looks like lots of tiny fractures on the screen itself.

(how long has the spell check been on here?!?!)

Ive got the markings from the hinge play but ive also got a mark at the bottom of the screen, its a scratch made by the ridge around the blue action key :)

Anyone else got this?

It's another fault I'm afraid what is needed is to have slightly larger rubber blocks on the flip. this would fix

both problems.

Try putting a screen saving sheet on the display. I started by trimming the one that cam on the screen to be a better fit, but will shortly put one made by Fellows (US) on. They bought the 'Write-Right' line from the inventors and now distribute it widely.

I've used these sheet son my Palms and Phones for 10 years. They may diminish the display slightly, but peeling one off and replacing it without a mark on the display is very satisfying. They protected my previous Nokia handsets for years.

Might keep the top from damaging the display.

I have no real play on the hinge but plenty of play on the battery cover!

Mine sits to the left to, glad someone else is finding the same. I thought I was squasing it in my pocket or something!.

Had to replace my first phone. It had an incredibly tight flip. Moved like it had been hand-made by a Swiss Watchmaker!

The first replacement I was offered was much looser, so I rejected it. The second one was much tighter, not quite as good as the original, but still well made.

I guess there must be some variation in the build going on here.

I think the play is "built-in" deliberately so you can open it easily with one hand. Mine sits to the left also and it makes it easier to open with just one finger. Maybe they DID think about it at moto!

Hi people my first post on here :)

I have just bought a MPx200 and its a tidy little phone :D I have no play in the hinge here and its just about right for fliping.

I can't find anything wrong with it apart from one or 2 things

My ringtones (if there quite big) they pause half way though (like load) and then will play the rest a few seconds later (like a bit of lag) anyway on stopping this?

Also movies (played though MVP player thingy) arew slow sometimes and will pause and then jump jutter about

I have closed down all tasks running via task manager but I don't know why there slow :D

Like you've said you've done, make sure you have quit all of the non system apps. Other than that, you could try making your ringtones/movies lower quality/file size and see if that makes any difference.

Other than that, you could try looking for some tweaks on these forums and see if they make any improvements?

Sounds like the case is has been twisted.

Eh mine also sits a tiny weeny bit to the left. Does it means the case has been twisted?

Without seeing it I cannot say but if it is only slightly then possibly not. There is always a slight movement when the flip is closed.

Mine sits off to the left as well. I thought i might have twisted it somehow, but now knowing that others have the same problems, i think maybe thats just they way it was manufactured.
