A 200-MHz Intel XScale PXA262 CPU powers the Voq, which comes with 48MB of flash memory for storage as well as 32MB of SDRAM. The Voq accepts standard SD cards, and they provide the best way to store and play media files. The 2.2-inch, 64K color display is identical to those of two other highly-rated devices based on the Microsoft Smartphone platform—the Motorola MPx200 and the Samsung SCH-i600. We tested a very late preproduction version of the Voq. The only difference between our unit and the final version, according to the manufacturer, will be in fit and finish, particularly color and gloss.

Not a bad review at all, I must say. Surprising, since it appears to me to be the crappest Smartphone available. How can you seriously market a phone that's any bigger than the SPV nowadays?

I still don't like it but it's not all bad.

Wouldn't mind that 200mhz...

The MPx300 is going to piss all over the Voq...

Ah, but Morpheus, the MPX300 isn't a Smartphone :)

I'm with you though in that I want the MPX100 which should knock the Voq even further down the leader board...

That is true, but is the consumer going to differentiate based on what OS it is running? Not when PPC is better spec'd than Smartphone!

The Voq, more than ever, is in a complete no man's land. It doesn't know what type of customer it is aimed at (businessman? - yeah riiiight!) If ever there was a phone designed by committee, this is it!

And with what Moto is coming up with, everyone needs to up the stakes with their new handhelds. Its not as if we don't have any choice between dumb and dumber anymore! :)

couldnt you argue that about all pocketpc phones then? cos all pocketpc's have better specs than all the smartphones. In fact, to be honest, good as the mpx300 looks, i think it is that which will have a hard time, the thing is huge (when opened up), if you are going to get one of those, then why not a FlipStart? Sorry, but i want a phone (something that will fit in my pocket), not a pocketpc :)

Now, i aint really defending the Voq, cos i am shallow, i care about looks, but you cant deny its specs and software included are pretty impressive :D

Beyond having a 200MHz chip and that fold out keyboard, what's impressive about it's specs? Doesn't the Mitac already have a 200MHz processor?

err, it has more ram, but its the keyboard i was talking about, and more importantly the software its running which is specific to the Voq (email push technology, speech recognition, and other bits and peices)
