Sending MMS on Qtek 8080?

ive just bought a qtek 8080, upgrading from an E100.

i'm on vodafone in Portugal and i have no idea how to set up the mms here, previously on the E100 i could create a conection through the Data Conections on the Settings menu that could use a MMS Server, but now on the Qtek doesn't have that option. it only has a lousy MMS program that let's set up the mms settings very badly...

if anybody who could set up the mms working correctly on a Qtek 8080 please tell me!

The internet works perfectly.

Thx!

I posted this another topic but I'll post it here too

I don't know if this will help but try using the Secure WAP connection for the MMS setup. Hope it works [-o<

Start - Settings - More - Data Connections

Menu - Edit Connections - GPRS connections

Description: MMS

Connects to: Secure WAP network

Access Point: (apn)

User name: (username)

Password: (password)

Home - Start - More - MMS - Settings - Menu - New

Name: MMS

MMSC URL: (MMSC address)

WAP Gateway: (Gateway address)

Done

Preferences

Connect via : Secure WAP network

Done - Home

Start - More - MMS - Settings

Highlight MMS

Menu- Set as default - Home

* If your MMS APN, username and password is the same as WAP then you should just need to setup the MMS settings part but make it connect via WAP network.

The WAP gateway address will be the same as the IP address that you had used in the E100 MMS setup program :)

Does the MMS come back with any errors ?

Try send an MMS (below 30k) to yourself ane see if you receive an SMS.

Also try sending it to your E-mail address.

i have set everything just like you said, i go to the mms program, compose a mms (below 30k) and send it. it connects to the GPRS and it appears the envelope with the arrow, meaning that it's sending, but after a while it appears the clock with the envelope instead of the arrow... and what's more strange is that the connection stays always on, i have to shut down the gprs connection with the end call button... :) dont know what to do... i think that this mms program sucks... when i restart the phone it forgets the mms connection i created...

IT WORKED!

instead of creating a new MMS configuration inside the MMS program i updated the configuration that comes by default! :)

just one point down... in the end i have to shut down the GPRS pressing the end call button...

it works for receiving and sending the mms's! 8)

Wahoo :D

Great news carvas.

One last thing, can you post up your full MMS setup for the QTEK 8080 and I'll post it in the repository :)

It's strange that it doesn't release the connection afterwards. I wonder if it's a bug.

here it goes my settings for MMS and internet GPRS on VODAFONE in Portugal in a Qtek 8080:

go to settings.

in the data connections menu add a new GPRS connection for Internet via GPRS with the following settings:

Description: Internet GPRS

Connects to: The internet

Access point: internet.vodafone.pt

User name: vodafone

Password: ip

Primary DNS: none

Secondary DNS: none

IP address: none

still in the data connections menu create a new GPRS connection for MMS with the following settings:

Descritpion: MMS

Connects to: Secure WAP Network

Access point: vas.vodafone.pt

User name: vas

Password: vas

Primary DNS: none

Secondary DNS: none

IP address: none

then in the first menu of Data connections set the parameters to:

Internet connection: Internet GPRS

and

Secure WAP connection: MMS

now, on the MMS pre-installed program on the Qtek go to settings and select EDIT the pre-installed connection and set the parameters to:

Name: MMS

MMSC URL: http://mms/servlets/mms

WAP Gateway: 213.30.27.63

finally in the same program go to preferences and where says CONNECT VIA select Scure WAP Network.

and this is it! :) for me it works perfectly, only with one prob, after sending or recievieng a MMS the GPRS connection stays on and you have to shut it down pressing the end call button.

Regards!
