Guest Baddass Posted February 21, 2004 Report Posted February 21, 2004 i have the SPV200 connected to my PC thru activesync and i was wondering how i can set up the internet on the SPV to access through my PC and it's broadband connection? just wanted to try it out on the SPV, without using GPRS thanks
Guest blewer Posted February 21, 2004 Report Posted February 21, 2004 Just go to Settings/Data connections and select Pass Through or Automatic. Now when you are connected to Active sync you will use your PC's connection :)/
Guest dazza12 Posted February 21, 2004 Report Posted February 21, 2004 Just be aware that a lot of the Orange specific sites will not work this way, as they are set to only allow access if the Orange WAP gateway is used.
Guest Pulse Posted February 21, 2004 Report Posted February 21, 2004 I just tried this and the internet works great, but msn doesnt work. Is there a way to sort this? And also, can I use a bluetooth dongle to connect to the net, so I can lay in bed and use msn/net?
Guest blewer Posted February 21, 2004 Report Posted February 21, 2004 And also, can I use a bluetooth dongle to connect to the net, so I can lay in bed and use msn/net? Yes you can :) SEE HERE Good luck
Guest Pulse Posted February 21, 2004 Report Posted February 21, 2004 Cheers for that blewer. Now if I can get msn working, I'll actually bother buying a bluetooth dongle..
Guest blewer Posted February 21, 2004 Report Posted February 21, 2004 Cheers for that blewer. Now if I can get msn working, I'll actually bother buying a bluetooth dongle.. I've got MSN working using my pc's connection over bluetooth :D/ Try e-bay for a bluetooth dongle. Got mine for about £12 :)
Guest Pulse Posted February 21, 2004 Report Posted February 21, 2004 How do I get msn working? It just keeps saying the service is unavailable?
Guest robpow Posted February 21, 2004 Report Posted February 21, 2004 How do I get msn working? It just keeps saying the service is unavailable? Don't know if you have the same problem as I had but in order to get MSN working through the ActiveSync pass-through I had to open port 1863 TCP outbound in my firewall. If you're using a firewall, try that and let us know how it went. Cheers, Matt
Guest londonlad Posted February 21, 2004 Report Posted February 21, 2004 how do you open that port? im using the built-in firewall
Guest Pulse Posted February 21, 2004 Report Posted February 21, 2004 I'm not using a configurable firewall. Just the built in xp one.
Guest Baddass Posted February 22, 2004 Report Posted February 22, 2004 Just go to Settings/Data connections and select Pass Through or Automatic. Now when you are connected to Active sync you will use your PC's connection :)/ ok, got IE working but not MSN, how do i use that?
Guest robpow Posted February 23, 2004 Report Posted February 23, 2004 Try following these instructions using 1863 as the port number: http://www.microsoft.com/security/protect/ports.asp
Guest Pulse Posted February 24, 2004 Report Posted February 24, 2004 It seems to work at least sometimes now rob! Cheers!
