Platform Manager Wont Connect

I expect this has been asked a 1,000 times before but I cannot find a solution on the bulletin boards, so hell now it's 1,001 times.

I cannot get Platform manager to connect to my SmartPhone 2003 device. It's an i-mate from Expansys.com and as far as I know is unlocked. Yes, I've done the spdps /create /device stuff which all seemed to go ok. YEs, I've got eVC++ 4.0 and service pack 2 and the SmartPhone 2003 SDK all installed. ActiveSync (3.7) connects fine and I can manually install an application (a home screen plugin) and that runs fine.

I've tried the various Transport options under the Platform Manager Configuration tool. After hitting 'Test' TCP/IP and/or ActiveSync just sit there saying "Establishing connection....blah, blah". KITL Transport reports an error "Please make sure you have installed the underlying transport".

My dev machine is on a network in case anyone thnks of mentioning Loopback Adapters...

What to do?

Thanks

Jim

i had the same problem and it was solved by re-installing the smartphone 2003 sdk (repair installation)

Hmmm, just trying that by removing everything and then reinstalling in the order prescribed in MSDN. I also noticed that where I was using eVC++ 3 tools to develop with PPC2002 I couldn't connect to the PPC 2002 device through the way I've always done (e.g. Transport = ActiveSync). As well as that I also can't get eVC++ 4 platform manager to connect to the SP2003 emulator!!

ActiveSync itself seems OK with both devices. VisualStudio.net will connect to the SmartPhone and run a C# application! I wonder if it's becuase I have two differing devices connected to the machine???

Real waste of time this.

i can definitely tell you that having two devices is not a problem.

i have an original SPV and an E200, with evc++ 3 , evc++ 4, visual studio 6 , visual studio .net , smartphone 2002 SDK , smartphone 2003 SDK , .net cf SDK

everything is working EXCEPT i cannot start the "Tools" from within evc++ 4 - i need to browse to them in explorer and start them manually ( remote regedit etc.)

so, keep trying - it does all work but is a bit kooky...

Uninstalling and reinstalling has not made a difference. Grrrr, time to use that damm MS support incident agreement...feel defeated now after 10 hours of trying

First: Be sure your computer working in a network(Because the smartphone Emulator requires TCP/IP protocol when it start connection)

Second: you can try this method : Begin-->program-->smartphone SDK-->spartphone 2003 SDK ,then type "spdps/creat" then "spdps/device"

(please forgive my poor english , and my native language is not english)

There is an option that lets you change the paths, it took me ages to find it (and now I can't remember wuite where it is), but it is there in one of the settings.
