Guest raiden-wolf Posted February 23, 2004 Report Posted February 23, 2004 Hi All. My smartphone has met with its arch enemy Lemonade, and is now laying quite poorly on my window ledge. I have tried using a hair dryer and am letting it dry on my radiator, any one come across this situation before? Any ideas if I can fix my poor SPV? Thanks TT
Guest mcwarre Posted February 23, 2004 Report Posted February 23, 2004 That's what you get for drinking soft drinks ;-)
Guest Disco Stu Posted February 23, 2004 Report Posted February 23, 2004 Should be okay albeit with slightly sticky keys for a while. Mine recovered from a Guinness-dowsing a couple of times. Posted from my SmartPhone!
Guest Palindrome Posted February 23, 2004 Report Posted February 23, 2004 I've dropped mine in the bath before but it dried out in a couple of days and was OK.
Guest raiden-wolf Posted February 23, 2004 Report Posted February 23, 2004 Thanks! Well, I hope mine will be ok in a few days. Is there any special technique to 'drying' it out? As I say, mine is on the radiator at the moment, but not sure if thats the best way? Ta!
Guest kelv23 Posted February 23, 2004 Report Posted February 23, 2004 I'm no expert but letting it dry naturally sounds loike it would be the best option after the hairdryer,I hope you're joking about the radiator sounds like that could do more damage than good to me....
Guest mcwarre Posted February 23, 2004 Report Posted February 23, 2004 Don't think so; just make sure the radiator doesn't get too hot as it could cause problems with the phone. If I were you I wouldn't leave it on the radiator just in case....
Guest ivor biggun Posted February 23, 2004 Report Posted February 23, 2004 After all these positive posts here a negative one! My spv landed in a pint of lager and fished out within seconds but...... i lost use of the bottom two rows if buttons! Just thought i'd cheer you up :)
Guest raiden-wolf Posted February 23, 2004 Report Posted February 23, 2004 Thanks all! :-( I hope it will be ok. Someone mentioned placing it in the fridge may help?
Guest blewer Posted February 23, 2004 Report Posted February 23, 2004 Someone mentioned placing it in the fridge may help? I must say that lemonade is always best served chilled
Guest James Posted February 23, 2004 Report Posted February 23, 2004 just make sure you remove everything from the phone.. battery.. sd card and sim. this will help good luck :) Posted from my SmartPhone!

Guest squall Posted February 23, 2004 Report Posted February 23, 2004 give it time to dry out, i made the mistake of trying to switch my orig spv on when it still had condensation from a rather wet river. The phone powered on, then must have shorted out. Didnt think the voltage would be high enough, but didnt work again... worst case if you are not insured and in the uk orange will replace for £70.
Guest awarner [MVP] Posted February 23, 2004 Report Posted February 23, 2004 Airing cupboard for a few Days, also may be worth removing the case to aid in the drying time and to stop condensation build up that can happen.
Guest Lourdes Posted February 24, 2004 Report Posted February 24, 2004 WASH IT QUICKLY! Phones tend to die because of the sugar and things in drinks bot the liquid itself. Sugar especially ruins phones unless you give it a good rinse out first.
Guest alang Posted February 24, 2004 Report Posted February 24, 2004 Just ring 150 the buzz will soon vibrate the phone dry :)
Guest raiden-wolf Posted February 24, 2004 Report Posted February 24, 2004 Wish I could phone! Well, I am hoping to upgrade shortly anyway so, now might be a good time to do so. That means, I may have a working/non working SPV E100 for sale if anyone is interested. TT
Guest awarner [MVP] Posted February 24, 2004 Report Posted February 24, 2004 If it's for parts let me know :)
Guest raiden-wolf Posted February 24, 2004 Report Posted February 24, 2004 Hi again! So you think I should drown my poor SPV?
