Poor Battery Life

Just got home after a less than full day and the phone has really struggled to keep up - not messing around much either. I read that I should expect it to improve after a few charges but it doesn't seem to have got any better. Short of a spare second battery, any ideas?

Yeah,

Charge the battery for long periods for a week (say upto 14 hrs). Make sure you close all appsusing using task manager. (I do it every time I have used something). Assign it to a speed dial for easy access. My battery was taken off chaarge one Sat morning and abused over the weekend and just been put back on (till morning).

Let us know how you got on.....

mcwarre is right

i find for best results charge it at least once a week with the mains charger, and top up as and when with the usb charge and you should get 2+ days of good usage out of it

I heard that it is better to charge using the main charger instead of the USB? True or False?

Was about to post the very same topic, that'll teach me.....newbie, that's my excuse....

My new mpx200 struggles to keep its charge, only just noticed it this morning after charging it to death yesterday.......c'est la vie and all that, the price you pay for having a great phone.....

As an aside, I unlocked it using Alphaflux software and absolutely no issues, loaded on DoomSPV, and watched as my phone went into meltdown   Hastily removed using SmartExplorer, and all is well, except for battery eatage !

what might be happening is that callerID is installed/running

that eats batterys like nobodys business :)

the best thing to do would be a hard reset to uninstall the clutter orange install on it, or uninstall callerid which should clear some space on the phone and improve the battery

I'll have to dissagree with mcwarre.

I had an mpx 200 for 3 weeks, charging for 12 hours on the mains charger every time, but it never lasted 24 hours, even without making calls, or opening the lid. that's not what any of us were told when we signed up, 4.6 days in my book!

I eventually took it back to an orange shop, and they swapped it for a new one. that new one has only just run out of jucie (wednesday evening) after unplugging from the charger on sunday morning.

I've made 20 minutes of calls, and had 4 or 5 games of solataire. I'm not very good - takes at leats 20 minutes.

try removing caller ID by all means - but if it can't last 24 hours after a full charge then it is faulty. - and it could well be the phone that's faulty not the battery!

I've also noticed that USB doesn't charge as well as the mains charger - it's a shame you can't use both at the same time. so you can do a proper charge and sync. - must get an IR adapter!

It really helped for my mpx200,

Try to change the setting:

Setting - Home Screen - Time Out (try to put "never" on this section)

and another things always to run "QuickClosed" application

with this methode my Mpx200 can standby for at least 3 days if without making any calls or I got 1.5-2 days for normal used

hope this can help everybody as well

i had mine for about a month and a half and had to charge it every night then I decided to run it down until it died and then charged it for 24 hours (after calling bestbuy and getting them to send me a new battery under warranty) It must have know that it was being replaced because it started to last a day and a half.

but now that I have the new battery I just let them die and then replace with the recharged batt.

and the new battery acts like the old one did and the old one seems to last awhile longer.

but nothing like what they advertise.

Do not let the battery drain fully as you can damage it Li-ion batteries prefer to be topped up rather than discharged.

for some reason, a Hard Reset can do wonders...my phone was as dead as anyone else's after 24 hours and a full charge, but after a hard reset, the life tripled! i was amazed, and after reading these forums, i realize it must be IA?s CallerID program. it seems having the program memory (and maybe flash/IPSM) clean can improve performance and batt life, is this true?
