Guest Bravehearted Posted February 24, 2004 Report Posted February 24, 2004 Hi, I was in my local phone shop the other day as i need a new phone. I was in when i was shown the MPx200, i was impressed with how it looked and it's functions, thankfully due to past experiences i did not pick it up that day and instead decided to see what people were saying about this phone. It has had some bad reviews on other sites but some good on others. Is this phone worth picking up and if so on what network???
Guest mcwarre Posted February 24, 2004 Report Posted February 24, 2004 Bravehearted, Welcome to the site! The MPx200 is definately worth buying. You can customise nearly everything and the days of paying for a ringtone that sounds nothing like the song it is meant to be are gone! Network choice depends on your useage. I would recommend O tho cos you can pick up the phones for free! That is a bargin. Let us know what you buy and with whom
Guest awarner [MVP] Posted February 24, 2004 Report Posted February 24, 2004 Basically the best Smartphone I have owned. Just the build quality alone gets my vote. There are a few little bugs but not enought to deter away.
Guest McHale Posted February 24, 2004 Report Posted February 24, 2004 if you are in the US, I would recommend you NOT buy it. Unfortunately, we now have 2 GSM standards here and the MPx200 only supports one of them. While 1900 is the most used, thereare places in the US where it will not work but *WOULD* have worked had you had the other band. If you're in the US, I'd wait for the MPx220. It definately is worth the wait. I'm still confused if the MPx100 is tri-band like I keep reading or if it's quad-band which would make more sense... -Mc
Guest phonesmarts Posted February 25, 2004 Report Posted February 25, 2004 I would say the same, but that shouldn't keep you away from this phone. its truly a great phone that turns heads...i love it for its functionality and its size...of course its a tad outdated (SP2002: why moto - why?!). its best to wait it for the mpx220 or if you want a PDA over phone, then mpx300. otherwise this is a great phone by far...
Guest Bravehearted Posted February 25, 2004 Report Posted February 25, 2004 Am i better getting this or holding out for the MPX220???I got stung by three when i picked up the E606 and i don't want to be stung again!!!!
Guest mcwarre Posted February 25, 2004 Report Posted February 25, 2004 The MPx220 is probably at earliest end 2Q beginning of 3Q this year i.e. Jul-Oct (on O). The choice, as they say, is yours! This is all hypothetical of course but, in general, release dates go back not forward, so who knows? Not me I am waffling. Wibble, Wibble!!
Guest joolsca Posted February 25, 2004 Report Posted February 25, 2004 I am REALLY enjoying this phone. You can customize it very easily with great skins....It has excellent voice quality and RF (here in Toronto on the Fido network)....battery life is actually not too bad...the build quality is great....looks cool. I am using it with the generic Motorola ROM. I like having a ROM on hand in case I need to flash it (had to once already because of a software install glitch).
