Guest RichT8496 Posted February 26, 2004 Report Posted February 26, 2004 Please please please can someone help. The old SPVs had the very useful function of being able to lock the keys by holding down the red button. For some insane reason the E200 has been programmed so that all you have to do is press the key once to lock the phone. Excuse me if I'm much mistaken but this is the same key as 'hang-up' and now instead of hanging-up at the end of a call all, I am doing is locking the phone. I have wasted quite a few minutes now on calls because of this ridiculous feature! I have told Orange and been sent through the usual cycle of 'I'll just ask my advisor' followed by 'I'll give you the number of the manufacturers' followed swiftly by 'We're just a call centre and don't deal with technical issues - Orange should know that'. Now totally sick of asking Orange anything but the simplest of questions my last resort is to post this... Please please help. Cheers
Guest Disco Stu Posted February 26, 2004 Report Posted February 26, 2004 Welcome to the site mate :) Surely the red button on the SPV Canary was the hang-up button, same as the E200 ?! You just have to be gentle when hanging up. Doesn't cause me any problems.
Guest RichT8496 Posted February 26, 2004 Report Posted February 26, 2004 It still is the hangup button or course but now that you don't have to hold it down to engage the keylock it also locks the phone when you try to hang up. The only other possibility I can think of is that when you answer the phone whilst it's locked it goes back to being locked when you hang-up and the sound of the line still being open in the earpiece is just slightly delayed in going away. Maybe I'll set my keylock not to engage automatically.

That's correct, if phone is locked when a call is received, after the call has ended the phone goes back to being locked. This would be ok if the call progress screen went and the phone reverted to the home screen but it doesn't. Another one of the SPVs "features" shall we say!
Guest RichT8496 Posted February 26, 2004 Report Posted February 26, 2004 Are there any settings for the keylock? I can't find them. I'd like to stop it from engaging automatically.
Guest biffsmash Posted March 1, 2004 Report Posted March 1, 2004 The E200 keylock is acomplished by holding down the red phone key for a few seconds. To hang up you simply press the key once. With regards to returning to the homescreen, this is a setting in "settings->homescreen->homescreen timeout. I set mine to 5 mins, after 5 mins it will go back to the homescreen if u do nothing, u can set it to 10 seconds, and it goes back after 10 seconds. The second setting is in "settings->accessibility settings->confirmation time out. This setting on my phone is set to 5 seconds, then after the call ends, 5 seconds later, the call information screen disapears and if u were on the homescreen before the call, u will return to the homescreen. The auto key lock is under security settings. This allows the keylock to come on automatically after a set amount of time, and also allows you to set a password to unlock the keypad if u want to. If the auto keylock is set up and your confirmation time out is set to a long duration, then after the call ends, the softkey to unlock the phone isnt there and u have to wait until it times out and returns to the homescreen before u can unlock the phone, so make sure your confirmation time out is set to 5 seconds like mine to avoid problems with this setting. My phone is set up with 5 min homescreen timeout, and 5 second confirmation time out, with no automatic keylock. Hope this helps. biffy
