Guest Rambler Posted February 27, 2004 Report Posted February 27, 2004 Hi, Im looking at purchasing an O2 XPhone here in Sydney Australia and have a few questions. The first question being, whats the screen like in outdoor light? Is it washed out or is it visible? The reason I ask this is I currently have a Ericsson T610 and you cant see the screen in outdoor light. Secondly, is the phone application locked? Im planning on buying it from an electronics retailer so it wont be sim locked but I dont know about running non Microsoft apps. Thanks Rambler
Guest ipv6ready Posted February 27, 2004 Report Posted February 27, 2004 Hello Rambler, I use Xphone in Sydeny. Screen is as good as one can get. As long as the sun is not directly on it. No Buzz. Not application locked. OK on Telstra, Voda and Optus. All the other carriers use one of these so it should be ok. GPRS ok with Telstra.
Guest Rambler Posted February 27, 2004 Report Posted February 27, 2004 hi thanks for the response. where about in sydney did you get the xphone? telstra shops have the imate but im after a xphone. harris technology are the only ones who seem to have it. Rambler
Guest ex_zero Posted February 28, 2004 Report Posted February 28, 2004 ARC have it, but you have to order it from them. phoneshop.com.au an online site have them as well. Right now, they're the only 2 places that can get them, as every other retailer can only get them in till april 1st.
Guest kamsden Posted March 2, 2004 Report Posted March 2, 2004 I live in the us, purchased an Xphone and a imate. The imate is a better phone. The xphone comes up in chinese when you go into the bluetooth settings and I can't get the t9 mode to work. Xphone doesn't have a fix yet!

Xphone has problems transfering files (eg pictures) via IR to another phone.
Guest ipv6ready Posted March 2, 2004 Report Posted March 2, 2004 Interesting, I have both e200 and xphone, I have different problems with each one in regards to speed. I write a progam to work on xphone and and have reasonable reponse but I have issues with e200 lagging. but this is also true in reverse some are the other way around. I am hoping that this is a batch problem.

Guest dog Posted March 3, 2004 Report Posted March 3, 2004 xphone from Hong Kong has Chinese OS, while the one from Singapore has an English OS. With the English OS, there's no way to read Chinese (SMS, etc), although some Chinese web sites come up in Chinese, not squares! There's no Chinese plug-in available yet for the xphone to read Chinese, as far as I know. Poo.
Guest pipiballs Posted March 3, 2004 Report Posted March 3, 2004 Anyone knows how to transfer Mpeg4 video clips to the phone? I have no problems tranfering Mp3 but just can get the Mpeg4 Video to work...

Guest humz Posted March 4, 2004 Report Posted March 4, 2004 Interesting, I have both e200 and xphone, I have different problems with each one in regards to speed. Is there much difference between the E200 and the O2 Xphone when it comes to video playback and recording? And with speed in general? Does anyone know if there is any difference in the hardware? Whats the CPU speed and amount of RAM for each handset? Or are they both just different names for the same handset? Does anyone know if MSN Messenger works properly on the Xphone on the O2 network?

Does anyone know if MSN Messenger works properly on the Xphone on the O2 network? www.myxda.com MSN messenger works without a glitch for M1 network in Singapore. In fact, i didnt do any configuration to set my my MMS, GPRS...etc. Just select your respective telco in your country and every thing will be auto configurated. Speed is fast to me. But its based on my own judgement! :)
Guest cclboss Posted March 8, 2004 Report Posted March 8, 2004 I have an O2 Xphone from Hong Kong and it works fine except that unless your regional setting is Chinese (Taiwan) or English (US) there is no way to adjust Time and Date (there is no response even if you click of Time and Date menu. Also, I have no way to select Bold font for system font or any font for that matter. Does anyone else have this problem? If so, any work arounds, I would really like to change my system fonts as the default Nina is just too small for my eyes.

Guest humz Posted April 7, 2004 Report Posted April 7, 2004 Does anyone know when the O2 XPhone is going to be released in the UK? Also, does anyone know of any plans to bring out a 3G videophone with the Microsoft Smartphone operating system?
Guest creature777 Posted April 8, 2004 Report Posted April 8, 2004 The T9 button is the * button, if you press and hold the * key you can choose the input methods. Also, the word "T9" is printed on the key
