Guest VirganiD Posted February 27, 2004 Report Posted February 27, 2004 Hi Gurus, Spek: Mitac Mio 8380, Indonesian citizen, Satelindo. Problem No. 1: JMMS Problems (No Profile in the list), GPRS is okay, can browse using Internet explore. Using my previous phone (Alcatel OT-535) can send MMS to other people. Data Connection for GPRS & MMS has been created. Try to setting JMMS but find no profile ??? Any clue ? Problem No. 2: Send / Receive e-mail using GPRS/WAP Connection Let's say I've an e-mail address at @yahoo.com, it's possible to receive/send using my Mio via GPRS/WAP connection ? try using this parameters: pop3.mail.yahoo.com smtp.mail.yahoo.com wap connection so far it's failed. Thanks, Virgani D
Guest martin Posted February 27, 2004 Report Posted February 27, 2004 Welcome VirganiD 1. You don't say what network you are with but try the following. Delete any existing GPRS or dialup connection for MMS which contain 'connects to MMS connection'. Complete the GPRS conenction and jMMS setup with the companys APN, username, password, MMSC address and gateway IP address. The username and password may not be needed but you can get all this information from your other phone. Create GPRS connection. Description: MMS GPRS Connects to: MMS connection Access point: (Access Point Name for MMS) User name: (username) Password: (password) Primary DNS: Secondary DNS: IP address: Select Programs-jMMS-Settings-Profile Edit Profile MMSC= (MMSC address) Data Connection=MMS GPRS Gateway=WAP 1.0 Gateway IP Address: (IP address) Port: 9201 Encoding=Binary 2. It's possible that you are unable to access E-mail using your company's WAP APN (+proxy). Try changing the E-mail settings from 'WAP network' to 'The internet'. This is only if you have full internet access.
Guest sabio_proeliat Posted February 27, 2004 Report Posted February 27, 2004 sorry to say so but I don't think it will work. I haven't spoke to ONE person that have got the MMS working on mitac mio 8380, including myself.
Guest VirganiD Posted February 28, 2004 Report Posted February 28, 2004 [Martin] 1. You don't say what network you are with but try the following. [Virgani]I'm using SATELINDO .... [Martin]Delete any existing GPRS or dialup connection for MMS which contain 'connects to MMS connection'. [Virgani]I've try this way several times with no result. The Problems is I can't see any profile on JMMS setting ... I've read same problems in the MIO section ... some said that I need two files (my phone missing two files) ... I'm just wonder how can my phone missing that files ? [Martin]Select Programs-jMMS-Settings-Profile [Virgani]Again, there's nothing to select :=) [Martin]2. It's possible that you are unable to access E-mail using your company's WAP APN (+proxy). Try changing the E-mail settings from 'WAP network' to 'The internet'. This is only if you have full internet access. [Martin]Ok, so it's mean there's no way to use my GPRS/WAP connection to send/receive e-mail right ?
Guest VirganiD Posted February 28, 2004 Report Posted February 28, 2004 sorry to say so but I don't think it will work. I haven't spoke to ONE person that have got the MMS working on mitac mio 8380, including myself. Really ? I'm not so sure because some people in my country (Indonesia) claimed that they're able to send and receive MMS from their Mitac. And they have no problems with Jmms, they can select any profile while I'm not..... how can ? well I think my Mitac is different with them. My Mitac hasn't a chinesse character symbol on keypad while they've ... I will move from this forum to MIO Forum. Martin & Sabio, thanks you very much.
