Guest Andy Mac Posted February 27, 2004 Report Posted February 27, 2004 I have been struggling to delete my sms messages from sent and deleted folders. I get no error messages but the messages do not delete... Any thoughts :?:
Guest Disco Stu Posted February 27, 2004 Report Posted February 27, 2004 Which phone ? Which ROM ? Daft question maybe, but how exactly are you trying to delete them ?
Guest Andy Mac Posted February 28, 2004 Report Posted February 28, 2004 E100, latest Orange ROM 1.6x Selected Show Folders, hightlight folder, selected menu, delete SMS, confirmed, nothing happened... :)( Cheers,
Guest moo_ski_doo Posted February 28, 2004 Report Posted February 28, 2004 Couple of things - have you tried deleting the messages individually? Are they definately SMS's and not e-mails? (I believe the delete SMS option only deletes SMS's and doesn't completely empty the folder as you might expect.)
Guest awarner [MVP] Posted February 28, 2004 Report Posted February 28, 2004 quick way of deleting sent emails and SMS is to delete the contents of the IPSMMAPI folder or those with 2003 StorageMAPI :)
Guest Andy Mac Posted February 29, 2004 Report Posted February 29, 2004 Moo : That works, no problem, my issue is I have LOADS of SMS in the Sent/ INBOX, it would take me forever to go through them... awarner : I successfully deleted those files, what were they? Do I neeed them back? I hope not... however ALL the SMS's are still there... Any other thoughts?
Guest awarner [MVP] Posted February 29, 2004 Report Posted February 29, 2004 The files in the MAPI folder are your SENT emails and SMS so you should not have any more in your sent folder. To nuke your entire inbox you could delete the CEmail.vol
Guest Will Posted February 29, 2004 Report Posted February 29, 2004 the remaining sms's : are they sent sms's or deleted sms's or both still? Will
Guest Andy Mac Posted March 3, 2004 Report Posted March 3, 2004 awarner: CEmail.vol is a system file... how can I delete this? Will: They are sent and deleted, an inbox sms's. Cheers,
Guest awarner [MVP] Posted March 3, 2004 Report Posted March 3, 2004 Rename the cemail.vol file cemail.old using something like Smart Explorer and power phone off and on this will now create a new cemail.vol folder and the old one can be deleted :)
