Guest MadSci Posted February 28, 2004 Report Posted February 28, 2004 After first a Hard Reset, and also after getting a rplacement phone, I have had the following problem. Basically, I can't get Active Sync to synch up the phone with a duplicate of the previous phone's files. It insists on calling it a new name, and many apps like Splash Photo will not recognize the info on the SD card as theirs, and will only partially access it. Active sync claims to have a Backup fundtion, but it has always been greyed out for me and I cannot get it to function. Does anyone know how to use the Backup tool? Thanks MadSci
Guest ferret Posted February 28, 2004 Report Posted February 28, 2004 Back up doesn't work on ActiveSync What I do is to create a new partnership and let it sync Disconnect phone and open activesync. Click on file > mobile device then choose the old partnership. Then click on file > delete partnership. Then rename the new partnership to the old one. Hope I've made sense!
Guest awarner [MVP] Posted February 28, 2004 Report Posted February 28, 2004 Backup is not a supported feature on the Smartphone, its designed for the PocketPC only.
Guest MadSci Posted February 29, 2004 Report Posted February 29, 2004 Thanks! Too bad about the lack of backup support. Seems pretty basic although Motorola seems to have thought their phone was perfect, so who would ever need one? :) I'll try the renaming technique and let you know! Thanks again MadSci
Guest MadSci Posted February 29, 2004 Report Posted February 29, 2004 Renaming worked Great! Thanks for the tip. One more question if you can bear it. I got a replacement phone, which seems to have cured most of the glitches I was experiencing. I had previously installed a nubmer of programs to the storage card installed in my old phone. After placing that card in the new phone, I can run the programs using ALL-Explorer, but this is tedious. How do I get the new phone to scan the card and add ececutable programs to the "Programs" list of the phone. Thanks again! MadSci
Guest awarner [MVP] Posted February 29, 2004 Report Posted February 29, 2004 You need to copy and paste shortcuts into IPSMWindowsStart Menu To view the new shortcuts you will need to reboot the phone first.
Guest MadSci Posted March 1, 2004 Report Posted March 1, 2004 Worked like a charm! Thanks again to everyone who make this Forum so incredible helpful! MoDaCo Rocks! MadSci
