Guest Dumdidum Posted February 29, 2004 Report Posted February 29, 2004 I am pleased to publish the first videos of the Motorola MPx! http://mpx.ruttensoft.com They show how you can open it to top and to right! And how it can be used in everydays life!
Guest [email protected] Posted February 29, 2004 Report Posted February 29, 2004 Great videos Dumdidum, thanks! Got any of the MPx100?
Guest MECX Posted February 29, 2004 Report Posted February 29, 2004 wow that is a very very nice phone. actually smaller than i thought it would be :)
Guest midnight Posted February 29, 2004 Report Posted February 29, 2004 my main worry is the smaller a device like that gets the harder it becomes to press the qwerty keys, especially when the keys are so close together (touching). Anyhoo, it is impressive, i just hope its useable.
Guest welshkid121 Posted February 29, 2004 Report Posted February 29, 2004 the keys might be too small for ppl with big fingers :D glad i dont have big fingers :) welshkid
Guest squall Posted February 29, 2004 Report Posted February 29, 2004 Here are the video's - thanks to the guys over at http://mpx.ruttensoft.commpx_pda.zipmpx_laptop.zipmpx_input_modes.zipCamera.zipBluetooth.zip
Guest nickcornaglia Posted February 29, 2004 Report Posted February 29, 2004 Much smaller than I thought! Though I think they hire people with really big hands!
Guest Scarfman007 Posted February 29, 2004 Report Posted February 29, 2004 Looks VERY cool. Isn't that the Pocket PC OS though? If so it's the smallest PocketPC I've ever seen :). Scarfman
Guest squall Posted February 29, 2004 Report Posted February 29, 2004 yeah it is ppc phone edition. small but still a nice phone
Guest kjk Posted February 29, 2004 Report Posted February 29, 2004 i bet it comes at a price tho :? price is not big deal for me if i like it so i buy it
Guest zeta101 Posted February 29, 2004 Report Posted February 29, 2004 i dont think ill be getting one of these, i dont look professional enough, and dont wear nice suits or have a nice swanky office...mpx100 for me :) well unless HTC have something nice up thier sleaves, unlikely though!
Guest muerte8 Posted February 29, 2004 Report Posted February 29, 2004 I love my mpx200, even with the crappy sevice at&t provides. I know that as soon as this phone comes out I am getting it cause while trying to decide whether to buy a ppc phone or a smartphone the big factor for me was the size of the phones. The mpx looks like its about the size of the samsung i600, which is very small for a ppc phone. I am getting this as soon as its available cause its perfect for me - a keyboard and touch screen thats not to big to be constantly activated while talking on it and its a truley compact ppc phone. My only wish is that it be a quad-band phone, cause the single band mpx200 gets horrible service.
Guest mugenakuma Posted February 29, 2004 Report Posted February 29, 2004 Anyone know what the processors are going to be for the new motorola phones, the mpx, mpx220, etc.? Also how limited is the PPC Phone edition, as far as software goes? Can it use most regular PPC software? Just curious since there is a TON of PPC software, which I have too, so it would be awesome if I could use it on a PPC phone edition device.
Guest Scarfman007 Posted February 29, 2004 Report Posted February 29, 2004 PPC Phone Edition is the same as PPC, but with *added* phone-like functionality. It can run all PPC software, and make better use of most of it (MSN Messenger anyone?) due to the fact that PPC Phone devices generally tend to have wireless data access  . You're really looking at a PPC, so it should at least have an Intel Xscale 200Mhz, more likely to be 300-400Mhz, or more :). Not to mention that there are SD card WiFi drivers for PPC OS! Pity it's not 3G (?). Scarfman
Guest mugenakuma Posted March 1, 2004 Report Posted March 1, 2004 hey scarfman thanks for the info tidbits. What your sayin about the processor definitely makes sense. Lets hope it's a intel xscale 400 :)
Guest muerte8 Posted March 1, 2004 Report Posted March 1, 2004 I know what you mean when you say you have tons of ppc apps, I to have a ton of them and would love to take them with me in an all-in-one device like a ppc phone; I hate having to carry 4 things that do almost the same thing. I think by the time the mpx comes out it will have a 400mz processor, cause thats the average among ppc's or atleast it will be when and if this thing actually comes out. WiFi will be a big thing in this phone and if the phone is 3G it will make it even better. The only thing I am curious in finding out is if the phone will be quad-band or atleast triple band cause the only problem I have with my mpx200 is that its single band and gets horrible service.
Guest mugenakuma Posted March 1, 2004 Report Posted March 1, 2004 I stopped carrying my old Cassiopeia E115 a LONG time ago. Since I got my mpx200 I long for more software than their is and we all know about the tons of PPC software.
Guest Dumdidum Posted March 1, 2004 Report Posted March 1, 2004 No Need for SD WiFi-Card since WiFi ist built-in (!) in the MPx!
Guest dinoalbert Posted March 2, 2004 Report Posted March 2, 2004 HI...sorry for this stupid question but how do you know its a PPC Phone Ed? Any links for the specs of this baby? :)
Guest Pondrew Posted March 2, 2004 Report Posted March 2, 2004 HI...sorry for this stupid question but how do you know its a PPC Phone Ed? Any links for the specs of this baby? :) I think most of us are just working on the basis that it's running Windows Mobile, it's a phone, and it can't be a Smartphone as it doesn't fit the definitions laid down by Microsoft which really only leaves Pocket PC Phone Edition!
Guest Dumdidum Posted March 2, 2004 Report Posted March 2, 2004 And it has a touchscreen => it must be a pocketpc phone edition!
