Guest jack_561 Posted February 29, 2004 Report Posted February 29, 2004 I decided to create this thread because not many people know about this. It is when you create a contact (just a first name) with what you want to say eg. I love what youve done with your hair then you send the contact to the other bluetooth user the phone will usually blip and they will see 'I love what youve done with your hair' I just want to say sorry if this post is illegal in this forum since im a newb :?: see Coolsmartphone AND Bluejackq
Guest daniel darky Posted February 29, 2004 Report Posted February 29, 2004 Not much danger of this happening to a Smartphone user, if BT is turned on the phone will be out of battery before anyone can jack you...

Guest Rob.P Posted March 1, 2004 Report Posted March 1, 2004 At least we can't be jacked like certain Nokia and Sony Eric users, well not that I have found yet anyway.
Guest Disco Stu Posted March 1, 2004 Report Posted March 1, 2004 It is when you create a contact (just a first name) with what you want to say eg. I love what youve done with your hair
Guest DancingMatt Posted March 1, 2004 Report Posted March 1, 2004 Don't you need to make a Bonded pair etc. between BT devices before you can send anything?
Guest chrisc28 Posted March 1, 2004 Report Posted March 1, 2004 Don't you need to make a Bonded pair etc. between BT devices before you can send anything? Off topic : "Bonded pair". Reminds me of chemistry. Just had the lecture. :)
Guest blewer Posted March 1, 2004 Report Posted March 1, 2004 Don't you need to make a Bonded pair etc. between BT devices before you can send anything? No you don't. If you have smart explorer you can select to send a file via bluetooth and it will search for all available devices in the area. You then select which one you want to send to. That's it, SENT :)
Guest James Posted March 1, 2004 Report Posted March 1, 2004 just create a file called something like '[email protected]@.scr' then send that in the pub and watch your mate panic!!
Guest davo141 Posted March 1, 2004 Report Posted March 1, 2004 i did some bluejacking when i was on the tube in london, made me laugh. :) thats when i had my p800. such a great pda
Guest cybercamel Posted March 1, 2004 Report Posted March 1, 2004 OK I give up, how do you do this via Smart explorer? :)
Guest shadamehr Posted March 1, 2004 Report Posted March 1, 2004 No you don't. If you have http://smartphone.MoDaCo.com/viewtopic.php?t=55367>Smart Explorer you can select to send a file via bluetooth and it will http://smartphone.MoDaCo.com/search.php>Search for all available devices in the area. You then select which one you want to send to. That's it, SENT :) Whilst a pairing or bonding is not required in advance, if the receiving phone has its security/settings configured the way you SHOULD do, then the file will NOT automatically send, but the receiver will get a confirmation dialogue appear first asking if he wants to receive it/save it. The same is true for an E200 - if you configure it properly, you should not be bluejacked in terms of file sending. Receiving a Business Card or contact can work slightly differently though, but then this is not such a security issue, in as much as some phones will always automatically receive these, you get the choice whether you want to save the contact usually, and with this method, it can always only be a contact (or text as in the original post), but never a malicious file though. Hope that makes sense...
Guest dinoalbert Posted March 1, 2004 Report Posted March 1, 2004 been having fun bluejacking Nokia phones since my SE T68i days!!! :) :D :D
Guest jack_561 Posted March 1, 2004 Report Posted March 1, 2004 Usually on nokias it will beep so it will be answered almost immediatly which means you wont be following people around for 5 minutes :)
Guest McHale Posted March 1, 2004 Report Posted March 1, 2004 well, here in the US we are all safe. All the wireless companies are so cheap, if they find out that it is possible to send a message to another user and they aren't making money on it, they will disable the function! -Mc
Guest wirefree90 Posted March 2, 2004 Report Posted March 2, 2004 for all you Nokia and SE users. Bluestumbler
Guest cybercamel Posted March 2, 2004 Report Posted March 2, 2004 I've realised the reason why I couldn't use smartexplorer, it helps if you have the latest version! :) But, once you've got it how do you get to an 'individual' contact to beam across to someone?
Guest ferret Posted March 3, 2004 Report Posted March 3, 2004 Go to Contacts, create a new called "Hello, love bluejacker" or something, then hit menu > beam. You'll get IR but if you wait a bit you'll get available BT devices too.
Guest jack_561 Posted March 3, 2004 Report Posted March 3, 2004 I wish someone would make a bluejacking app 'hint hint' so you dont need to create a whole new contact and maybe even just send a message like a text via bluetooth :?:
Guest shadamehr Posted March 4, 2004 Report Posted March 4, 2004 I second that... would be great to be able to easily compose a textual message and quickly send by BT. Any takers for doing a quick application???
Guest siu99spj Posted March 4, 2004 Report Posted March 4, 2004 well, here in the US we are all safe. All the wireless companies are so cheap, if they find out that it is possible to send a message to another user and they aren't making money on it, they will disable the function! Ah, isn't the materialistic world wonderful :? I know its off-topic but I couldn't help myself.
Guest jack_561 Posted March 4, 2004 Report Posted March 4, 2004 This is kind of off topic but what is snarfing and how do you do it (i have read wirefree's link but i want more info) anyone :?:
Guest jack_561 Posted March 4, 2004 Report Posted March 4, 2004 Ive just read a bit more of that link and it sounds quite illegal  so sorry if it is against forum rules
Guest jack_561 Posted March 4, 2004 Report Posted March 4, 2004 3RD REPLY IN A ROW !! sorry Messages via bluetoothe seem very possible: Read this
Guest phonesmarts Posted March 5, 2004 Report Posted March 5, 2004 ahh...bluejacking....i loved doing that to unsuspecting people (classmates, co-workers) with my iPaq. it got boring when i couldn't send messages or make their device make sounds in the middle of a lecture (but i still do it when i am totally bored). but now...it seems possible to do so...Time for the hax0rbluejax0r to return!
