Guest mfissel Posted March 1, 2004 Report Posted March 1, 2004  How do you set-up the mpx200 to send to an email address using SMS? I'm currently using Cingular and also have not figured out how to set-up email with income/outgoing servers, etc. Any help or direction appreciated
Guest awarner [MVP] Posted March 1, 2004 Report Posted March 1, 2004 Welcome to the site :) For email you have to ensure you have GPRS activated on your account. Open up your Inbox and select MenuOptionsEmail Set-up Now this will give you a step by step method of entering your email information. Remember your outgoing email must be the one Cingular use for their network.
Guest Shuflie Posted March 1, 2004 Report Posted March 1, 2004 Don't think that was quite the answer he was after. Cingular seem to have a email to SMS service set up , you email @mobile.mycingular.com and the email comes directly to the phone. Says on their site that you can send too but doesn't go into details on how exactly you go about doing this. I suggest that you call Cingular customer services and find out if this is possible with the MPx200, and if it is, how. I don't think however that you will get anywhere with trying to set it up through the smartphone email setup as this assumes normal email servers that you connect to through the internet, not sending via an operator specific service.

Guest Shuflie Posted March 2, 2004 Report Posted March 2, 2004 Me neither, no need to be embarrassed.
Guest adblancodpm Posted March 2, 2004 Report Posted March 2, 2004 only way i know is putting 10 zeros in the To: field and put email address on the subject.
Guest rjm_27 Posted March 22, 2004 Report Posted March 22, 2004 I've also found that since you can't add in an email address from the contact list, and copy and paste is pretty much non-existent. I've changed some of the "predefined text" lines (the ones that say things like Yes, No, Thanks., I'm running late....they are under Menu -> Insert Text when in the body of the message), I will edit those lines and add in a contact's email address. This has proved to be a pretty good shortcut to adding in a contact that you want to email via SMS, however you only have 9 entries you can play with. So anything more then that and you'll have to type out the email address which, as I'm sure you know, can be a big pain!!! Hope that helps you out!!
