Guest mwooding Posted March 1, 2004 Report Posted March 1, 2004 Does anyone know if/how one can remove apps such as MSN messanger, orange plus and so on.
Guest awarner [MVP] Posted March 1, 2004 Report Posted March 1, 2004 Nope the MSN etc are in the main Windows folder so if you did delete them, they would be reinstalled when you rebooted the phone as the whole Windows folder gets rewritten on every startup.
Guest mwooding Posted March 1, 2004 Report Posted March 1, 2004 Might it be possible to create a script to delete them once the system had booted? I imagine that things are restored from ROM before windows starts up. I notice there is a startup directory in windows.
Guest awarner [MVP] Posted March 2, 2004 Report Posted March 2, 2004 There is no point in trying to remove them as you will not reclaim any more memory, as that area of the phone's memory is reserved. If that is what you are thinking of? Startup directory is an idea but not really worth doing to be honest.
Guest mwooding Posted March 2, 2004 Report Posted March 2, 2004 I'm interested mostly for asthetic reasons. I just don't want these apps and I'd rather they didn't appear in the apps list. I see the dead hand of marketing whenever I look at them ;-)
Guest samandiain Posted March 9, 2004 Report Posted March 9, 2004 a vague idea - it worked on my NT workstation at work to clear MS junk from the links and start menus. Change the shortcuts to "hidden". They wont be over written, as they are still there, but you don't see them on the list. Iain
