Guest FrankyG Posted March 1, 2004 Report Posted March 1, 2004 Allo folks... question for y'all... My PC WinXP pro, friends PC Win98 (in Australia) how can I set them up so that she can access my files over the internet, either using built in software on the PC's or using 3rd Party software? Normally my IP is static, but when it changes I can easily pass the new one to her, although she's on dial-up at the moment. Any suggestions welcome... :)
Guest stevewright Posted March 1, 2004 Report Posted March 1, 2004 May I suggest either MSN Messenger 6 (then you can chat as well!) Or WWW FileShare www.wfshome.com , although this does rely on your IP address. It makes your IP address act as a web server, so http://my.ip:port/ is a link to a directory of your choice.
Guest lutzh Posted March 1, 2004 Report Posted March 1, 2004 well, the best solution will be to setup some sort of dns forwarding such as dyndns where you simply enter the "hardware" ip of your pc and generate a url-like adress for it (checkout dyndns). then its up to you if you want to share specific folders or put it behind a website for ftp usage... cheers, lutz
