Charging an E200

Is there a way to modify the usb connection so that it charges the E200 straight from my laptop, instead of having to plug the cradle into both a power socket and a pc

The E200 sync cable DOES charge form a laptop/PC USB port mate.

BUT - unless you have a less common type of PC/Laptop where the port is provided with power even when switched off, then you of course need to make sure the PC/Laptop is turned on in order to charge the phone.

Additionally, I recall reading on here, that if the battery/phone is brand new, or very low on rare occasions, the USB method sometimes cannot provide enough power to carry out a proper re-charge.

I've never had this happen to me though, and can happily charge my phone up using the sync cradle with it ONLY connected by the USB, and NOT the ac charger lead plugged into it - as long as my laptop is switched on of course!

Mine did not charge from my laptop but the battrey was fully discharged.

Thanks for saving me the expence of buying a second charge unit that would only end up collecting dust

No problem mate - give your phone a 'good' long charge switched off, with a proper charger (ac plugged in).

THEN test out to make sure your sync cradle will then in future charge from just the USB...
