Guest angela Posted March 1, 2004 Report Posted March 1, 2004 Anybody who knows how to view attachements in email? If I use WAP to check my yahoo mail I can't see eventual attachements or enclosed pictures. Or even attachments in Orange Mail I can't see or download. Anybody who knows how to fix this? Angela
Guest jbrare Posted March 2, 2004 Report Posted March 2, 2004 Hello there, I believe you can only download an attachment or picture from an email if it's being viewed/downloaded through the inbuilt email client on the SPV/smartphone that you are using, not the web online browser versions. Both Yahoo and Orange have a "POP" service available for you to use. If you need help setting these up on your phone do a search of this forum for the settings or post again and I'll post 'em up for ya! Pretty certain that if your going through pure WAP only, you won't be able to deal with any attachments. JB
Guest angela Posted March 2, 2004 Report Posted March 2, 2004 Hi I tried a search, but could't find it. I have an Orange email and a Yahoo mail. The Orange I can view with my own Inbox etc. on my SPV, the Yahoo I have to do with WAP or Web. But I can't view attachements or pics. I really would love to...... Hope to hear from you soon! Angela
Guest jbrare Posted March 2, 2004 Report Posted March 2, 2004 Go into Start/Inbox/menu/options/account setup/menu/new Your ready to setup a new POP email, enter your name (obvious that one!! sorry about that!), next one down is just your normal Yahoo email address to enter, uncheck the "attempt to obtain e-mail settings..." box, goto next, enter your yahoo login user name WITHOUT the @yahoo.com/@yahoo.co.uk part at the end, next one down is just your normal password that you use for yahoo (case sensitive), no domain is needed in the next one down, click next, pop server is POP3, next down, Call this what ever you want coz its what will be displayed in your inbox as its title, next down, this is how it connects to the email server, set this to what ever is using your "orangeinternet" APN for GPRS normally this is "The Internet" - click along until you find this, click next, Incoming mail server - you need to type pop.mail.yahoo.com in the outgoing mail server just use smtp.orange.net this will stop any sending mail problems. Don't put a tick in the lower two boxes, click next, the two settings in here are your choice as to how much of the email you want to download in one go, click next, in here it will check your email at the setting you tell it to - the message client in the phone has to be set to the email box you want it to check or it wont check for new mail automatic, ie if you want it to check your yahoo mail every hour, and you've set it to do this, but then say you've sent a txt and left the message client in the phone on the SMS part, it wont check for new mail - it seems to be a fault. I'd set it to manual for checking mail. Hope all this has helped, also sorry if you already knew how to enter the settings and had to read all this waffle to get the info you needed. It might help someone later who doesn't know. Let us know how you get on........... :-) JB
Guest angela Posted March 2, 2004 Report Posted March 2, 2004 Well I doscovered the program SmartAttach and now I can see there is actually an attachment. With my Orange Mail I can also open a picture, but with my Yahoo Mail (http://wap.oa.yahoo.com/raw?dp=mail also known as mobile.yahoo.com I think) I can see there is a picture in the attachment, but I can't open it. I can imagine that with documents because I have no ClearVue, but Pictures? Anybody how to open pictures (or documents made in Orneta Notepad) when I visit my mobile Yahoo page? Thanks a lot! Anglea
Guest schriss Posted May 27, 2004 Report Posted May 27, 2004 Try Sunnysoft_Mail_Center_v1.0, it allows you to attach and view/save attachements.
